White Debut

What are your thoughts on White's debut.

IMO - he looked slow, which was a surprise to me from what I have seen on TV. Also, what concerned me is that he seem to run out of steam very early in the game. I would have thought his fitness base would have allowed him to run out the game a little better. He has now been in the system for a couple of years.

He will no doubt improve and I think he may be a good player for us in the future, but I am just a little bit worried about his speed.

I hope he doesn't end up like Dion Scott - heaps of size but doesn't know how to use it.

All of the Swans supporters around me were impressed with his speed, agility and ability to jump. Not a world beating debut, but certainly looks to have the goods to be a good AFL standard player.

Actually taught Dion. He was quite a shy,almost timid boy in gr.8 and not big. He grew later so didn't have the aggressive nature of some early maturerers. There was one of those in Dion's year group and he was convinced he was going to play AFL. Was balding by gr10 and would still be pissed off that little Dion made it and he didn't.

Jesse doesn't seem to me to have the same nature as Dion, he looks a bit more aggressive and prepared to burst through people. I was pleased with his debut and especially that clean grab he took in the 2nd? quarter. Haven't seen clean hands take a grab like that for a long time from a Swan.

Jesse looked very good to me. Comparing spiders body at the moment Jesse should be first choice. He surprised me in the air too, I thought he would not be able to jump high enough in the ruck. He also had one or two long accurate kicks. definately worth a game. also we need a tall target up forward to mark, he fits the bill.

Took a couple grabs, did a bit of ruck work. Nothing exciting, but wasn't a dud.

I think he did fine and will prove to be a major asset for us (especially considering he was pick 79!)

He is big and still developing, a lot of football still in him, I hope they keep the faith and keep him in the seniors. I am a bit scared he will be sacrificed for Spida's return.

Very happy with what I saw. Not a natural ruckman (a pinch-hitter at best) as he is a little short, but boy can he move. Not incredibly agile, Firrito beat him a couple of times in that regard, but on the lead he looks unstoppable. I wish he'd spent more time forward as well. And, best of all, he looks like he has a half-decent kick on him! Didn't do much, but what he did looked very promising! I really hope he keeps his spot next week. I think Roos should play Barlow and White forward for the entire match, perhaps rotating between FF and CHF, and play O'Keefe in the midfield.

take his normal role.
Really want to make sure Spider is 100% right before we just move him on.

correct or FF or CHF. Certanly isnt slow, he looked faster than jolly, hale and macintosh. Did run out of steam early.

Not exactly easy playing as a key forward in a game like yesterday to be honest.

He definitely does have talent. He'd be suited more to a traditional marking contest based game where he can use his height & strength to beat opponents.

Does the Canberra League use the same rules as the AFL? Just curious about the HITB rule and whether our ressies are playing under the same ruling. If White can get around that rule he should be alright.
