Do you have any facts at all for this assertion BTW?
    Umm... Common sense....

See, this is how it works.

Swans have say 30,000 members. They get asked to participate in a survey. Fair enough. Just how many of the 30,000 respond in the first place? I'd say, and yes it's a guess, about half. So that makes 15,000 responses. Of that 15,000, say they get a "overwhelming" response in support of Sunday games. And lets face it, "overwhelming" support would be 66%. So that's say, 10,000 people that "overwhelmingly" prefer Sunday games as opposed to Friday night games.

Sydney Vs Port Adealaide still gets an Audience of 150,000 plus on Sunday afternoon.

What's that going to be when that game is up against the NRL on Friday nights??

And FWIW, if you believe the propaganda you read in the club magazine, PM me, I've got some great deals on margin lending I'd like to sort out for you.

Last Fri. night was in 2001.

R4 SCG in front of 40131 !!!!!!! Remember that game had to stand up in the Noble, couldn't get a seat and it was more or less over at half time.

Prior to that R7 1998 MCG vs Pies and R11 Essendon MCG

R3 1997 SCG vs Melbourne only 23k that time, and R12 Richmond SCG 35k

That's as far back as I've gone.

I think the club have routinely asked for one Fri. night fixture a year but have never got it. I would reckon for one game at the SCG against the right opposition, as a couple of those fixtures above shows you'd get a big packed house with your Fri. night after work types from the CBD. It'd be a good game

Friday nights are reserved for Collingwood just like ANZAC day is.

Eddie sulks bigtime if they don't get their way.

        Talk of conspiracy -

Best thing about Friday night games is getting a getting a group of your mates together after work, pub crawling from the city to the SCG, a bite to eat somewherer around Darlinghurst, and a few beers at the game and after too!!

            Great night with the boys....

Spot on, the pies have way too much pull in the AFL. They just keep talking up how good they are, how many people go for them, how much money they can get and then the AFL just keeps giving them their way. Wouldn't be surprised if they get their wish to play all their 'away' games in the one spot (think they were talking Gold Coast). If that happens, absolute joke. I can't even believe they have the nerve to ask for something like that...makes me really mad.

Didn't we play the game v the Dees at the SCG in 2003 when we kicked 10 goals in the last quarter to win on a Fri night? Or does my memory betray me?

                I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Yep, Anzac Day night. Reasonably short lived experiment.

                      Quite simple, we don't rate.

Also, we have asked for Saturday night games.

So they are scared of going up against the NRL on a friday night yet think that Western Sydney is finally ready for another team.

That was one of my concerns at the announcement of the new teams.

FFS, we only get one page in Sunday's paper. I think there's an inch or two sometimes in the daily horror (don't know - don't read it).

Sydney is soooooooooooo ready for another team.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

i always assumed it was a ratings thing as well...
