      Who was on Cooney today?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Bevan was on him for a while. Must have only been when he was quiet though.

Leo had him for awhile in the 2nd quarter when he started to cut loose. Cooney was just too versatile for Leo.

At the time I thought Teddy should have gotten a chance on him, but Conney was taken out of the game around 3 Quarter time.

Just regarding Leo playing on Welsh, it was so damn confusing at times, because he and Mattner were also alternating on Johnson. So some of the times we couldn't figure out who was on who. So even though Leo did smash Welsh, he wasn't doing a good job on Johnson when he was on him.

Goodes was a head above the rest, so I'm kind of confused as to how the heck he didn't end up on the best list for the Swans.

Also ROK got his career best 32 possessions, at times it didn't seem like he got that many.

Two things I didn't like in the match (excluding the loss itself) which I don't think has been mentioned previously (if it has apologies), but when Bird got smashed and was down, the Bulldogs player that pushed him down afterwards as if he was faking. Personally I wanted to smash him.

Oh and a word to the AFL, yes we know you want to watch the Swans interchange carefully, but did you really have to have 2 people right next to the Swans and only 1 to the Bulldogs for 3 quarters of the match.

                  Understatement of the year!!

Believe it or not, today was my first time seeing the Dogs play live due to me missing our last few SCG games against them, and I was most impressed. They appear to have worked on their contested game a lot, and, coupled with their excellent disposal and goal-kicking, are going to be a tough proposition for most teams if they play like they did today.

As for the Swans players, well, 'nuff said. Jack is going to be a star, Moore and Teddy were alright I thought, but most of our players just don't seem to be able to think quickly enough. Simply put, we fumbled when they didn't. And boy do they know how to make you pay.

Well, there you go. That's where he did most of the damage though, I guess.

As much as I love ROK, his effort/impact ratio is severely lacking.

He had 1 possession for 1 goal at FF?

A great start with Seagull on fire up forward, and from there it all goes pear shaped with a fightback to little to late.
Sydney really are lacking a focal point up front, having Monty has a focal point in the forward line is far from ideal.
The Bulldogs were too sharp for Sydney with the ball movement while Sydney looked decidely hesitant.
A decent fight back again from Sydney, but really lost it in the 3rd quarter with some very gettable shots missed and then the Bulldogs move it effortlessly up the other end and kicked truly.

Thing that pissed me off most about that game was they seemed to give up halfway through the final term. Maybe they just realised that it wasn't going to happen for them but the margin was not out of their reach. Even though Goodsey and Mick scored late goals, there didn't seem to be the intensity that I'd have hoped for when the game was still - just - within reach.

Credit to the Dogs though. Apart from their sublime skills, they were tactically very switched on too. They captured the middle of the ground very well when the Swans were in possession, leaving almost no-one on the wings but spreading out to create a very effective zone defence through the middle. I was getting really frustrated with Kennelly not being prepared to go for a dash but I think it was just he realised the middle was too crowded even for him.

I stand corrected then, if that's true. Seemed to me that he took a few marks in the 50, most of them a yard or two in front of Leo.

                                Cheer up guys....

We could be as bad as the Fremantle Dockers.

As long as Eddie Barlow and Jarred Moore are in the team, we'll be alright.

So chin up guys, and keep the faith.
