Those of you mentioneing the 2000-2005 period are missing the point, which is that we won our share of close games back then (against the Lions at the Gabba in 03 or 04, against the Roos when Cresswell staged, coming back with five in the last against carlton at Princes park for example) but we HAVE NOT won our fair share for 3 years. The reason for this I will give in anew thread

      GOD was against us.

That was the Wally Jackson game. Jason Ball and McVeigh came off the bench late and made some crucial, in Ball's case uncharacteristic, errors. Why wouldn't they, they'd just watched a good mate, in Ball's case a very, very close friend, pass away in front of their eyes.

      That was one tough night.

Not that keen to rehash old stuff....but....EVERY single statement about that game has ALWAYS said that NONE of the players had any idea there was a major problem. Seems incredible, but I can't imagine why they would lie about it. Maybe you know some of the Swans perdonally and have heard it from them. But, as I say, the club has always said that none of the players were affected in any way.

Not to mention 5 goals in the first 10 min...

You think we would have learnt, but come the dying seconds that @#*$!& would pluck a mark or free. Grrrrrr

They may not have been keen to use it as an excuse, but for them to say they didn't realise there was a major problem, that is just plain silly.

We watched the drama unfold from the top deck of the Noble Stand and the constant CPR given to Wally and the demeanour of support staff told you there was some serious @@@@ happening down there. This was happening 1 metre from the Swans bench, it is inconceivable to suggest those on the bench were clueless about it.

Sharp9, I realise you're not necessarily suggesting they knew nothing and you're just reporting the clubs take on it, but the reality is, they had to have known but the Swans did not want to turn the tragedy into an excuse for losing a game of football.

A bloody shame, he was a good bloke.

Wow. You know that's the first time I've heard anyone say that they were aware of something serious happening AT THE TIME. I must have rocks in my head.

Agree on this one. I used to hate that guy so much. He did it to us time and time again!
