    Ben Mathews - It's over

It's official now. Stick a fork in him, he's done.

Woeful game today, constantly making mistakes and turning the ball over.

The fact that young Nick Smith missed out for this hack today is sickening.

can't believe the selection panel elected to give this guy another chance.... we have talented youngers who are ready for senior football, and the name Matthews, when it's proven he only has one facet to his game.

Seriously, the amount of times I noticed him watching his man, and just making sure his man doens't get the ball astounded me!
This is while the ball is just meters away too!

You'll notice one of Cooney's goals, the one that was a floating snap. Matthews was in the goalsquare just making sure his opponent didn't get the ball, when he could have actually attacked the footy and stopped the goal!
The commentators at the time actually said then didn't know how it got past two players..... I know how!

Not one positive bone in his body!
          No Awareness
          No creativity
          No good!

Ben, you are the weakest link.... Goodbye!

What's the bet that Roosy keeps him in the side so he can reach the 200 game mark?

5 clangers from mathews resulted in goals to the dogs. a completely inept performance and if he plays another game i give up. surely there are better players in the magoos.
if it wasnt for mathews and his clangers we may have even been able to win.

He's in the leadership group so he's not going to go quietly into the dark.

That should end the Mathews experiment once and for all. He and Crouch should quietly retire mid-season.

What's the point in reaching 200? AFAIK, he's already earned his life-time Swans membership. So, what's the point in still playing him?

I know I'm chief Benny Basher, but I in spite of my bias, he was just AWFUL today. Too slow of mind, too slow of foot, and surely having a young player come in for him would not be of any detriment. I can only echo the sentiments in this thread.

                      I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Mike, I think we'd have to be joint chief Benny Bashers! I have loathed "Backwards Benny" for years, and today just proved my point! He is useless and cost us BIG time today. As has been said, there are youngsters waiting in the wing and I'd love to know what they thought Mathews could provide that they couldn't! If it was easy possessions to the Bulldogs then he was master of the role today. If it was meant to be something for US, then he failed miserably as usual.

                          Bah!

Any chance Benny can take Jude with him when he pisses off back to Canberra?
