As author Jim Main discovered in compiling The Armchair Footy Record, a collection of anecdotes, facts, legends and trivia about Australian football, colourful players have never been in short supply.
Back in 1965-66, South Melbourne had a player named Noel Orange, in 1912-13, University boasted a bloke name Leslie Primrose and more recently - in 1989-90 - a Robert Teal played for Sydney. But our favourite - especially when you consider that he played for Geelong, which for years has to contend with gags about it being a team of handbags - is the Cats' 34-gamer of the early 1920s, a bloke by the name of Arthur Pink.
