Has Barlow started? Has Benny started? Has Malceski started? Is Aaron Bruce the logical replacement for Schneider on the quest to find the one true ring (or wherever the hell they went)?
Reserves today?

I may be wrong but I dont think Malceski can play in the Reserves.
After being named in the 22 the only way he can be dropped is for an injury, so he couldnt then play in the Reserves...so if he doesnt play in the Seniors he cant play in the Reserves

I didn't see any of the players you've mentioned, but I think Mosman may have beaten Willoughby. Hard to tell.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

Still no news...yes?..No?
I just hope Laidlaw can get up to speed soon as the Kennelly/Malceski roundabout is made for him to step up. Get well soon."The Dog days are over, The Dog days are gone" Florence and the MachineComment

No Cheese or Smith.
Maybe one or two players were touch and go? Not sure.
Also missing Laidlaw and the Vespa (or is that the 'Emi?), I believe through injury.
Pretty comfortable win in the end.
Beckmans kicked 4, Braba 2.
Davo played in the backline, kicked 1. Was okay to good in my opinion, but he's just way too good at this level.
Murphy played mainly on the wing, hard to tell since Tuggeranong only had 3 or 4 forwards most of the time. Very exciting to watch, especially if he gets a bit of space. Can get caught with it unawares but I'm sure that will improve with games under his belt.
Fosdike and Schmidt were among our better players without being superstars. I'm sure they'll work their way into the seniors sooner or later.
I also liked MOD's game, very slippery customer, and am impressed at Faulks's improvement from last year.
Orreal made his debut. I can understand why they've punted for him despite his inexperience. He's not only tall, but has a good leap, got first hands on the ball most of the time. Very athletic, moves well and doesn't look awkward like most ruckmen his height do. However, didn't do much around the ground, and it seemed to me he didn't want to get involved in the rough and tumble, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
Swans 3.7 6.12 11.15 17.17 (119)
Hawks 2.2 4.4 8.6 10.10 (70)
Goalkickers: Beckmans 4, Brabazon 2, Terlich, Bruce, Murphy, Davis, Brennan, Schmidt, Mathews, #55, #47, #51 (Spiteri I think?), and I missed one goal.Comment

Very scrappy game - bit like the seniors later on. A stiff, blustering breeze didn't help things too but also there was extreme fumbling on the ground. Given that this continued into the seniors game to an extent greater than expected suggests the surface wasn't the easiest. The grass looked longer and lusher than we nornally see at the SCG, probably because they also play league on there.
It's hard to pick anyone who had a good game, such was the standard. As Ugg has noted, MattyO did some nice stuff. His overhead marking has improved out of sight this season. But his kicking again let him down.
Murphy didn't see a whole lot of ball but based on what he did when he had it, I'd have him down as one of our best handful. He had a large hand in creating Davis' goal and then kicked one later himself. One of the things I like about him (and there are many) is that he is more than happy to take hard physical contact and it doesn't seem to phase him or put him off his kicks. He received a very heavy bump while taking his shot at goal but still nailed it. And later on he was crashing into packs and being crashing into but still was constructive. When he gets a bit more meat on his bones he could become a scarily impressive bash and crash key position player.
Unlike Ugg, I wasn't the least bit impressed by Fosdike or Schmidt's games. Sure, they both got heaps of the ball but constantly butchered it with fumbles or with nothing kicks to nowhere. Fosdike also got run down a couple of times and seemed surprised to find there were opponents around. I thought Schmidt was marginally the better of the two because he redeemed himself later in the game with some quite good kicks. But I wouldn't be bringing any of them back into the team at the moment at the expense of anyone we saw later in the afternoon.
Again echoing Ugg, Orreal's centre bounce work was very impressive for someone so new to the game. Probably more so than Currie's. And infintely better than anything I saw Andrew Erikson do during his three years on the list. But he's definitely a long-term work-in-progress because he doesn't seem to have much of a clue when to run on the ground to be useful. Most of his disposals came because he got in the way of the ball, though it has to be said that his kicking looked decent enough.Comment

I guess the thing with Orreal is that he has only played a handful of Aussie Rules games at any level. To even be playing at this level is remarkable.Comment

Team lists are up. Two scholarship players RBN and Matthew May played. I believe RBN usually wears #49? Disappointing that the stadium scoreboard didn't list the top-ups as per usual.Comment
