    Paul Bevan

Am I the only one that believes Bevan is starting to show some form.

I watched the game against Essendon, and his tackling and ball use was fantastic. I'm starting to see what Roosy must see in him, but its only takin 3 years.

I have no probs with him... hard and tough player... prob not naturally skilled but theres a spot for him
Some people say Football is a matter of life and death - I say it's a lot more important than that!

Definitely. I've been a Bevan knocker for a while on and off, but recently, he just keeps working hard and making me eat my words.

I love it when I nag a player and he turns round and plays good footy. I'm happy to be wrong in that way...

No, your not the only one. Refer to every second post Connolly has made.

          My views on Bevan are:
          • Great tackler and this year has been able to tackle without giving away frees.
          • Generally plays a good tough role as small defender. Makes a decent replacement for Mathews.
          • Kicking skills are generally good when uncontested.
          • Contested possession continues to be very mixed - often misses targets and this year has had few effective contested possessions.
The last part may (and probably should) improve over time as he becomes more experienced and confident with his ball use. Has some ability to break lines, but decision making is an issue.

I doubt he'll ever be a standout player, but is gradually getting closer to cementing a long-term place as a small defender or tagger, which may develop further in being useful offensively too. Still some way to go though.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

"[T]here are things that matter more and he's reading and thinking about them: heaven, reincarnation. Life and death are the only things that are truly a matter of life and death. Not football."

He's getting better. Was truly horrible last season but he must of taken a good hard look at himself over summer and has come back a better player.

He actually showed a fair bit in his first year i thought, then went backwards. Has been pretty solid this year without being spectacular. Was it him who tackled two bombers at once yesterday?

Yep. Was hilarious when Dennis said he took the quinella.

Bevo is having a cracking good start to 2008 (ever since Matthews has gone). Am I right in saying the one game Matthews played Bevo was ordinary?
Keep Benny away from Bevo and let him do his thing.
