Please don't criticise the players, or their "mothers" may complain.

Does this prove that Connolly is Mrs Bevan?
Donna said she knew of parents who joined blogs to dispute and object to comments made about their sons.

No it says a Melbourne player.

And I think connolly could come up with a better name than "Donna" (Apologies to any "Donnas")

I think you misread the quote. "Donna" is the mother of a Melbourne based player. She said she knew of parents who joined forums to argue/defend their child.

How hard is it for them to just not read the forums? Don't the players have better things to do (like work on their goal-kicking)?

Oh c'mon, if you knew that you could easily eavesdrop on people gossiping about you don't you think it would drive you just a little nuts not doing it?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

They're home at night, there's nothing on telly, they're surfing the Net. You think they're gonna pick up their Sherrin and go out in the dark and have a few kicks or instead maybe just take a peek at RWO?

I think some of you underestimate the family bond somewhat. I am not being precious but as the mother of someone that is one step away from the draft, it would be very hard to see your son critisised in they way that they are.

I hate people critisising my son, especially when it's his father, I accept constructive criticism, but just the statement that he is hopeless I find hard to take as a mother. If he is that hopeless why is he in the Under 18 apprenticeship squad for the Calder Cannons, it's because in my eyes they see something in him, it's definately not a charity.

The sacrifices and tribulations you have to go through to get a foot in the door to the AFL really need to be seen. I doubt that my son will make the draft but he has been identified as a talented player and we have decided to support him in this, but it's hard yards and I have only been to one of the Swans games in Melbourne because of supporting and transporting him.

If my son goes further in his career, I would really have to try not to look at sites about whatever club he goes to.

People need to understand it's just not a matter of playing junior footy and being seen as being good and ending up in the draft, it's a hard slog and it starts from the time the kids are 14 and 15, and this can be very trying on parents.

                          Just my $0.02 worth.
