I may risk have a fatwa declared on me by Swantastic, but Mal dont look right.

What worried me wasnt the dodgy kicks on a few occasions (as he absolutely drilled a few others) but a couple of times he jogged along when he needed to really go.

And I don't mean put his head over it, but quite simply, he failed to run flat out a few times.

Its either a bit of a lingering effect of the surgery or a lack of confidence in the knee.

Whichever it is, it aint good.

And Swantastic, no - you dont know where I live . . . ;-)

I think it was more his decision making skills were a bit off and it gave him the impression of being slow.

Previously, if he didn't have an option he'd either create something by invariably running or at least kicking it long to a contest along the boundary line. Today he seemed to go for the dinky little handballs to a player in a worse position than himself.

Some more game time, and a lot more confidence will do him the world of good.

The pace of the game also ramped up significantly on last week - I expect he is still some way off full fitness.
He's a classy player - he'll be right in a few weeks.

I reckon it will take a while to get his head right, and build his confidence that his knee (either one) won't fail him again. It's a tough thing to overcome.

Needs a few more games. Was definetly off the pace by more than a fraction. Though he did work his way into it a bit more in the last quarter....

he looks very underdone at the moment but there was one of his gun passes at one stage, Not an inside 50 but a critical pass to get us out of trouble which showed me that he will be right. Will take him plenty of time to get the confidence back and also to get the fitness back.

I reckon three to four weeks in the ressies would be beneficial.

Most times he gets ther ball at the moment he tries to avoid kicking, and on at least three occasions when he did kick it he kicked it straight to opponents. I think he'll be back to his best in a few weeks, but he should have come back through the 2's.

Going from a glorified training run, to a game played with a finals like intensity no surprise that Eski struggled to a degree.
Given time and match fitness I am confident Eski will be back to where he was pre injury.

He'll be fine, but he should have played a couple of games in the reserves. Looked totally lost at times yesterday and I cringed everytime he got it.

Totally agree, but I do not think he should be finding his feet and fitness in the seniors. Even Spida had to come in through the magoos, and he certainly didn't get any shorter in his time out.

i think he would be better off having a few easy games in the 2s he seems always that little bit too late with everything at the moment.
