Apart from racking up another win to close in on the four teams above them in the ladder, the Swans have other reasons to celebrate a victory over the Tigers. The match will be Michael O'Loughlin's 300th game of AFL football - he has played 279 premiership games, 14 pre-season games, two State of Origin matches and four International Rules matches - and as such will qualify him for life membership of the AFL.
A win would also be significant for the club. It would the 1000th for the Swans - South Melbourne/Sydney - since competition began 111 years ago. In 1897, South Melbourne played their opening VFL premiership game on May 8 at the Lake Oval and lost by 17 points to Melbourne.
