    And the answer is.... McVeigh...

It's pretty amazing looking at our team play now, compared to the team that ran out against Collingwood in the EF last year.

Last year we were slow, concentrated on smothering the ball instead of winning it, and failed time after to time to deliver it fwd with any accuracy or consistancy.

Looking down our list we'v had a few changes yes and for the most part they have been for the better. Mattner is certainly a real find for us. Bird is coming along as is Jack. Bevan is playing out of his skin and there's any number of youngsters that are stpping up to the mak. Schmidt, Barlow, Smith, Barlow, etc are all thereabouts. But the big difference I think is McVeigh...

In the space of 6mths he has gone from being a dead set liability to one of our top four players.... Goodes, Kirk, B2 and then McVeigh...

I have no idea what was said to him, what he has done differently or how he did it... But I am impressed with him actually doing it...

Well done son. As one of your biggest critics last year, I humbly eat the pie you are serving to me in ever bigger spoon fulls now!

I hit my head on the floor when I fell off my chair when I read this.
You owe me a "kiss it better".

He really listened to me when I told him how much he sucked.

He has improved - but he's nowhere near the same class as Goodesy; the hippy and B2. You can't make that comparison yet.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Based on form (alone) for this year... I think McVeigh may be ahead of your boy and only slightly behind B2.... Kirk is heads and shoulders above everyone else....

I didnt know we had 2 Barlows?

McVeigh has stepped up to the plate, maybe his brothers good form has rubbed off on him.

On comparisons i reckon IMO there is 3 tiers and McVeigh has moved up to the 2nd one this year but he still has a long way to go to catch up with Goodsey,Kirky and B2.

IMO the players that fal into the first group are...

        Goodsey,Kirky,B2,ROK,Tiger

        2nd group are...

        Melcho,Mattner,Hall,Davo,McVeigh,Spida,Jolly,Leo,A blett,Monty,B1,Fossie,Micky O,Teddy

        3rd groupe are....

        Barlow,Jack,Bevan,Schmidt,Smith,LRT,Playfair
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

In an article on the AFL site, Anthony Hudson nominates him as Sydney's most under-rated player

Official Website of the Australian Football League > News Article > The quiet achievers

"Everyone is once again marveling at Sydney.

Jared Moore?s crucial goal against Port has ensured he?s rightfully getting attention along with youngster Keiran Jack as a key reason for the Swans improvement in 2008.

Less has been made of the other last-minute goal-kicker Jarred McVeigh, who has transformed from being ?another Sydney tagger? into a major clearance and ball-winner who also bobs up with a goal a game."

Agree with your groups swantastic, except that I think Hall is clearly in the first group.

As for McVeigh - improved out of sight. He and Teddy are the two that have improved significantly in my view.

I see your point but you could argue that if we looked exclusively at form in 08, Tiger might slip a level as would Goodes.... ROK is certainly there and it was my error in not including him... But McVeigh, this year, would be in that group too.....

Umm i know i wasnt to sure about Hally but IMO he has dropped off a fair wack in the last 2 years, hence the 2 nd group.

His '07 form was poor, but that was mainly due to injury.

Prior to the suspension/injury, he was going very well.

Yep, would be a walk up start in any side, bar none.

Edit: I'm talking Hall here, not McVeigh.

Has improved out of sight from last year. However not yet in the top tier IMO. If we are just talking this year you could also put Bevan in the middle tier.

Struggled the past few weeks though P46, as a matter of fact he has been unsighted.

McVeigh will still be a major contender for our B & F award.

Averaging 20 disposals a game. One of our biggest improvers.
