Well, looks like we did not quite deliver to their expectations.
All week the Melbourne media has talked up how the Tigers were up and about after their scintillating victory over the Bombers and how they were a big chance because they could match us at the contested ball. I heard what you heard on SEN and I said to my son why should we bother turning up as all and sundry has us wilting under the relentless Tiger pressure.

A couple of observations of the past 2 weeks.

Buchanan now is permanent forward pocket. Great move by Roos given that Buchanan's filed kicking and decision making has been poor so he only has 1 thing to think about, kicking goals.

Our midfielders are kicking bags of goals and they are getting them with the fall of the ball well within our 30 metres.

Our centre clearance work has been much better with today being the best I can remember. The players kept their feet, even Jude Bolton, and were prepared to get a boot to it if their hands were free to move it quickly into the forward line. Worked like a charm.

Much to the chagrin of "Bedford" Mcveigh may have arrived. His clearance work around the ground and now willingness to run all day and deep into the forward line has been a bit of a revelation.

We are moving the ball forward of the play much more and kicking the ball past the player for them to run onto the ball in open space. O'Keefe was the master today at running into space for that kick.

Lets hope that the 3 running backs stay on the park because today, even with 2 not quite right, it was a delight to watch the clean movement and running through the corridor. By the way how good is Mattner?

I noticed at stoppages on the wing small players running forward before the ball was bounced which gave an extra player in the forward line and I think on one occasion in the last Q Bird goaled from such a play.

Our forward line pressure has been outstanding.

So we have varied things a bit from the predictable Sydney, but I am happy for us to be lambasted for our ugly footy. I suspect Roos has opposition coaches guessing quite a bit now.

Thought we did what good sides should.

Put them away early and had a good convincing win without being spectacular more so steady and neat considering the weather in the 2nd Half

          Positives
Esky : 3 games in, looked a little more confident on his feet today
          Darren Jolly : Fantastic
LRT : Best game of the year from him ,on a in form red hot player.
Marty Mattner : Has to be recruit of the year
Jude Bolton : 2 good ones in a row.
Goodsey : What a 1st Half, back in the zone now
Jarred McVeigh : What a consistant player he is at the moment.

Richmond , though were terrible & insipid and the worst opposition we have played so far. They were talked up all week as a chance to roll us and they gave nothing exept a small run the last quarter. They are Turds.

I have to say, I thought Bolton was pretty bad today. High-ish possession, low impact. And he played on Deledio, didn't he? Kinda got pwned there as well. Only real positive I saw from him was his tackling effort.

He actually got a number of centre clearances (first for about 3 seasons) and kept his feet. I have no doubt that he got "the word" before the Port Adelaide game.

Did you go to the game or watch it on the idiot box?

IMO McVeigh was as useless as an ash tray on a motor bike.

I wouldnt say B1 had a good one, more of an just ok one.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

Maybe in the beginning, but in the 4th qtr he put the foot down.

Not sure I was watching the same game as you. I wouldn't have had McVeigh in the best handful but he was pretty decent all afternoon, all the same.

I'm with you on Bolton - though it was hard to pick anyone who had a poor game. There was no opposition, after all.

If reading the play and getting in the right spot to crumb 3 goals, running hard to contests and anywhere else on the ground and winning a number of clean clearances is having a good day then I agree with 2005.

We need to celebrate this as a Funtastic win!

                            Every player did something.
Made the Tiggers look second rate.
Allowed every swans player to show a bit of run.
                            Excellent game.
They are allowed to back off in the last as several play makers were rested and the weather took hold.
                            A Dominant performance.

I was amazed how easily and how often all the backs went for a run at some stage during the game. Showed how poorly the tiges were manning up/chasing.

To my mind Wallace's tenure at Tiges has always been marked by poor organisation especially in defence. You can be outbodied but stick to your man and at least run to the right spots, for Richmond that has never happened under Wallace and he has certainly carried off the biggest con of all time with his massive contract.

They are a moderate side but at least we put them in their place and rain and boredom, I am sure, saved them from an even bigger flogging.
