Macca was excellent today. He covered the SCG like an iceskater. He was everywhere and crumbed 3 beauties. It was Bartlett-esque.The Pain of Discipline is Nothing Like The Pain of DisappointmentComment

Yeah bloody oath I watched it !!
Jude was good or Ok as you put it, his general output was better than what it had been in prior weeks to the Port game.
So you rekon McVeigh was as useless as an ashtray on a motorbike ??
Maybe whatever you have been smokin has affected your judgement SwantasticEst 1874

Occupational hazards:
I don't eat animals since discovering this ability. I used to. But one day the lamb I was eating came through to me and ever since then I haven't been able to eat meat.Comment

Goodes and Jolly were fantastic and our defensive pressure excellent.
It's great to see Mattner, Melcho and Kennelly together - Marty was outstanding.Comment

I thought LRT played pretty well today. With him giving the height in the backline we need and the 3 Musketeers running off half back we looked pretty sharp coming out of defence. Leo, Ted and Craig were pretty handy also.
Why not play LRT on the wing. If Richo can do it so can LRT.Comment

I thought we played pretty well. Luffy expressed his disappointment on the Triple M call that we didn't go on with it after half-time but IMO the Tigers fought it out to the end and deserved their second-half goals, even if they were blown away early. I think this was more due to us being "on" rather than them playing badly.
Goodesy's second goal was sensational, prob the highlight of the match. Really starting to notice our improvement at the centre clearances now, but overall I'm just enjoying the way we've been playing over the last few weeks. Since the ugly draw against North the Swans have played far more positively, even against the Dogs they created enough opportunities just butchered them with poor disposal. Signs are good!Comment

But surely McVeigh would have to be listed with Goodes (and ROK) as amongst the Swans' very best. At the ground I was saying that finally we had the crumber that we've been looking for since Schneider's first season. He looked like Milne at his best - and to call any Swan who kicks three goals/no behinds "useless" seems more like agenda than reality.Comment

most of the players had their moments today, thought there wasnt a dominant awesome four quarter player. Just a solid team effort.
Good to see bird kick a couple of goals and playfair get involved late. Not sure playfair will have a spot with hall back in the side.
Goodes was awesome in the first half, when he clears it like that through the middle he is excellentTheres not much left to sayComment

A couple of observations of the past 2 weeks.
Buchanan now is permanent forward pocket. Great move by Roos given that Buchanan's filed kicking and decision making has been poor so he only has 1 thing to think about, kicking goals.
Our midfielders are kicking bags of goals and they are getting them with the fall of the ball well within our 30 metres.
Our centre clearance work has been much better with today being the best I can remember. The players kept their feet, even Jude Bolton, and were prepared to get a boot to it if their hands were free to move it quickly into the forward line. Worked like a charm.
Much to the chagrin of "Bedford" Mcveigh may have arrived. His clearance work around the ground and now willingness to run all day and deep into the forward line has been a bit of a revelation.
We are moving the ball forward of the play much more and kicking the ball past the player for them to run onto the ball in open space. O'Keefe was the master today at running into space for that kick.
Lets hope that the 3 running backs stay on the park because today, even with 2 not quite right, it was a delight to watch the clean movement and running through the corridor. By the way how good is Mattner?
I noticed at stoppages on the wing small players running forward before the ball was bounced which gave an extra player in the forward line and I think on one occasion in the last Q Bird goaled from such a play.
Our forward line pressure has been outstanding.
So we have varied things a bit from the predictable Sydney, but I am happy for us to be lambasted for our ugly footy. I suspect Roos has opposition coaches guessing quite a bit now.
All quality observations - I'm going to have to start reading your posts more carefully now.
Bucky is indeed playing permanent FP and becoming a leading option what's more.
And McVeigh is definitely becoming a player - has a role to do and playing it with more confidence each week.Comment
