    Easy draw according to Sheahan

The e-mail I sent the Herald Sun this morning:

FYI, Mike, Sydney play the Bulldogs and Geelong TWICE this year. And just for good measure, Brisbane and Collingwood twice as well. Sydney play the following teams ONCE only - Freo, Melbourne, Carlton, Essendon, Richmond. And from last year's top 4 at the end of the H&A, Sydney will have played Geelong away, Port home and away, West Coast home and away and North away - all in the first 11 rounds. Yep, Sydney sure has an easy draw. Idiot.

    Regards

    Tim Rowlands

I always said he writes @@@@.

Stopped reading his "opinions" many years ago.

The thing that annoys me about these so called "footy Experts" they write something one week, stating their opinion on a certain matter, things change (in relation to this matter), then their opinion changes as well, and your left thinking to yourself, "hold on, thats not what you wrote last week". Mike Sheehan does this all the time, which makes me question why is he a "footy expert", I can do that, change my mind in hindsight to suit an article I am writing. You watch, if he has written that the swans have had an easy draw thus far, give it a couple of weeks, he'll soon write another article saying the how tough the swans draw has been. A lot of the time they all just write crap. I do still read his articles, but I can honestly say I never read an article from Caroline Wilson, I truly believe she has nothing to offer to AFL football except to write negative pieces or to stir up some sort of controversy that is not there.

I actually respect the work done by Wilson and Sheahan..they are the respective football editors of the 2 major papers covering the game, and didn't get that job by holding back!

However, it has to be accepted that they are writing for the audience reading TODAY, not for posterity, or even tomorrow. Therefore their opinions and forecasts have value till the paper wraps fish and chips, probably tonight.

If we have problems with them , try Masters writing on League in Sydney..an absolute dinosaur who still believes the sole aim for the existence of AFL is to destroy Rugby League. He doesn't get that AFL and its' supporters don't CARE about League either way. We don't like or dislike it..we just don't have the slightest interest. It may as well not exist!

And the general standard of League reporting is absolutely abysmal..makes the average AFL journo look like a Pulitzer candidate.

The general thrust of the article is correct that this year's draw is all over the place.

When Sheahan is talking about who teams play twice, he is talking about the remainder of the season not the full season (hence why he says the Swans play Geelong once). It helps to read the article properly before complaining about it.

It probably comes from former League players who have had one too many knocks on the head from the front row of the scrums.

The man's an idiot... Though in this case he does have a point. That is, the draw is crap. But unless each team is prepared to play 30 games, home and away vs every other team, your stuck with a lobsided system that will advantage some, and disadvantage others. But for him to speculate that it was delibrate is nonsensical. The idiots at the AFL wouldn't have the brains to do it.

I'm not sure what he's said that is idiotic.

He's not actually speculating that it really was deliberate, but rather its poor design would suit a conspiracy theory.

Personally, I don't think that he has to prove he's an idiot every day, with every statement he makes. He has enough runs on the board as far as I'm concerned.

i dont mind his stuff just opinion pieces

seems as soon as people write something thats not agreed with by the supporters of a team that it becomes stupid and is rubbish
Theres not much left to say

I'm pretty confident that the AFL season will develop into a 20 team comp, with each team playing each other once (19 rounds) and the finals re-jigged to be 3 weeks longer.

They won't shorten the season unless they are able to replace the missing rounds with some other sort of revinue raising activity.

personally I think we need to look at some sort of relegation system if they go to that many teams. But that's another conversation altogether.

Mike Sheahan is still a dickhead.

Because if Collingwood have to leave Victoria more than once, Eddie Everywhere rings up Theo Dimwit and lets him have it.
