A couple of random thoughts from Richmond game...

Did anybody else at the ground, you needed to be at the ground to tell, notice how many kicks were poorly delivered to Playfair??

I reckon Playfair got 2 or 3 metres on his opponent at least a dozen times yet the kicks came long onto the top of his head, letting his opponent make up the ground and spoil effectively. It stood out to me and i was feeling sorry for the poor bugger. He led brilliantly all day and the kicks needed to be out in front of him to run onto.

The other one I don't think I've read about is Leo's total brain fade in defence, last quarter. For those in the Noble stand it would have been soooo obvious. Richmond player, may have been Foley's goal, running in towards the 50, Leo backs back for 10-15 metres to cover who ???????????????, not another player inside the forward 50. Foley strolls to the 40 and has an easy unpressured shot.

As brainfades go it was right up there with when he left Koschitske to help out Tadhg who had Milne covered and trapped in a pocket against the Aints.

I love Leo and what he brings to the table, but for such an experienced player, he has massive stuff-ups.

I thought that Leo's brain fade was a bit much also TB.
I totally rate him as one of our better players, but his ducking and weaving is wearing pretty thin.
The opposition expect him to do it, and they're ready for him.

I don't see Leo's ducking and weaving as an issue at all. It works more often than it doesn't, and even if he gets caught, I rather the team gave away a HTB in this manner than by someone just handballing off to a team mate with no chance who then gets set upon.

I didn't see the Leo brain fade that BBB has described but it sounds like he was over compensating for the one a few weeks ago when he strolled in to help Tadhg when he'd have been better off covering the spare man. It probably didn't make much difference. I suspect Foley would have scored that goal regardless. And it would be mean to begrudge the Tigers one highlight for their reel.

At the start of this season, I thought leo may have lost a yard or so based on the last few games of 07. However, his runs and twists and turns are as successful as ever..we just have our hearts in our mouths cos of his advancing years. I don't agree with you Liz that he gets away with it as often as not..he RARELY gets cauight..still!!
At least with Leo and his style of play we will have no doubts when he is getting near the end, but it ain't now!

It's heart in the mouth stuff every time he gets the ball ... I'm on the edge of the seat wondering what the hell he's going to do with it!!!

I did cheer for the tiggers every time they got a score (big or small). The tiggers man sitting next to me thought it heart warming - his reaction to my hysterical laugher soon thereafter is something I can't repeat in mixed company!!

Re Playfair more a case of timing being off - both his leads and the teams ability to anticipate.
