The improvement in his kicking is what has stumped me. 2 years ago his kicking was atrocious and then about midway through watching the ressies last year i see him consistently kicking penetrating and accurate 30-40 metre left foot passes.

His work rate and endeavour was always there but to have him improve his kicking skills set so quickly just can't help but get you excited about how much more improvement is left in him.

The game on the weekend was his best IMO. Ran Schneider off his feet when he was on him and broke a good 20 metres to make great leads out on the wing. Boy is he quick or what.

I was thinking how good he was on Saturday night - and even found myself wondering if he could turn into a player of game-turning ability like Kerr? He's got that Willo-like ability to take the ball and run but he's also great on his man - as Crouch was. In R18 will Roos play him on Aker (so Aker's Sydney nightmare continues)? With the way Aker is playing Jack would learn a lot but Jack might provide a few surprises for him, too.

Jack was knocked up getting the second ball out from defence on the half-back flank on Sat night. And delivered it consistently well. Whoever from the Aints was on him, didn't give him enough respect, and he made 'em pay.

In the modern game where not giving the ball back to the opposition is pivotal, and just blasting long to a contest is half-a-defeat, a premium is placed on guys with good foot skills. The fact Jack has taken a step up in that respect, and put himself in the first 22 in front of older sub-185cm guys in the 2nds, gives real optimism that he's a long-term keeper.

Damn it! We gave the #14 to the wrong bloke!
