See me run a marathon again as a leprechaun?

Being part of the Heart Foundation team that ran the NY marathon last year with Jared I have to defend him here ... I have no doubt that he could have run a very competitive time & beat most of those 21,000 amateurs but instead elected to take it easy on his body & spend the experience with his lovely lady. He is one very fit bloke and would run rings against any RWO member so stop slagging him if you are a true Swans fan. A champion bloke who gives so much of his time running junior clinics & helping charities. I wish him a successful return via the magoos his week.
Bobby Skilton is a top bloke, and a great club man. Should he be in the side?Comment

Originally posted by CaptainAs for the marathon comment, that just shows how ill-informed you really are. You obviously researched how many people that beat him, however failed to realise he actually was walking it for a charity rather then racing anyone.
Crouch, for all that he has done in the past, has no future in the team. He brings nothing that cannot be brought by younger players, and there is enough experience in the team to counter any value he brings in that regard. It will be disappointing if he takes a young players spot - in fact "I'll be spewing". That is not hate. No one in this thread has wished him injury. Some people like to lie in wait and then pounce on anything considered to be negative, without much thought, and then trot out the "not a real fan" line. That's positive posting?Comment

Make of this what you will, however, I was explaining to a newcomer to the game on Saturday night the senior players who were playing the reserves... Davis, Fossie, Mathews etc. Said nothing negative / positive about any player, simply pointing them out.
About 5 minutes later, they said, "That number 2 you pointed out as a senior player does not seem to be running or working as hard as the other young guys in the team."
Exactly, what he said. I am constantly disappointed and waiting for Nick to become a senior player again, even if it is in the twos. I watch Benny and Fossy each time and they put their all into it. They are also coaching the kids at the same time. Aaaggghhhh!!!
Just get involved Davo, you are better than this! We wanna see the best you have got to give. Love and Kisses. If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

Did you not read the 2nd para of Nico's post?? Wishing that Crouch pulls a hammy sounds like wishing he gets injured to me.
I too don't want to see a younger guy replaced either, however injuries/suspensions will happen and if and when they do Crouch could easily slot in and do a job.Comment

read it again. Nico is saying that they will give him 1 game to get to 200, but that he is crock and will pull a hamstring (or the club will say he did) and then retire. There is no wish there for harm to come to Crouch.Comment
-
That's how I read it too and Nico said the same thing more explicitly last year (that the club would say he pulled a hammy), but he forgot that Crouch played 3 games late last year to make 202 games.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

I wouldn't think so. There will need to be a spate of injuries or suspensions and even then, I think Fossie and Schmidt are definitely ahead of him in the pecking order. Hopefully in Fossie's case he'll be back in the seniors this week."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

Not a chance I wouldn't have thought. He's a mile off our best 22 and barring a terrible run of injuries, I just don't see how Roosey could justify playing him for three matches. Maybe if it was one, we could sneak him in but not three.Bloods

Enough about Crouch already. I think everyone knows the score. You don't need to run down his off-field ambassadorial work and long on-field contribution to the Swans to make a point about his playing future; nor do you need to view critical comments about his playing future as a personal attack on the man.
Roos hit the nail on the head with this about Nick: "Sometimes it is a challenge when you are playing seconds. You look around and it's an empty stadium, and it's a little bit harder to motivate yourself."
He's not as self-motivated as most modern AFL footballers. Some people are self-motivated; some are more reactive. Just a fact of life. Changing your inclination ain't easy. He's a little like a Warnie-style figure (better average in tests than at first-class level) in that he responds to the big occasion and the big crowd. However, he won't get that chance in front of the big crowd again unless he self-motivates in the boondocks. We're stuck with a chicken & egg scenario.
I think his history, coupled with his strong ties to Sydney and probable disinclination to move again, rules out him being trade bait-- which is the usual release valve for a talented footballer who doesn't fit with the culture of a club. It's here or nowhere for Nick's career. (And he'll be too old by the time Western Sydney set up shop!)Comment

Wow! I cant believe all the argueing bout Crouch and i havent been the 1 starting it lol cracking it at some1 bagging crouch!
I just ask people to ask themselves y people make the decisions they do. Y Crouch wont announce his injuries for all to see. Mayb its due to people judging him or mayb he is sik of ppl getting it wrong! Ppl may not have wished injury on him in this thread but have in past threads.
If the bloke gets bak in the 1s its becos he is in the best 22 avail on that given day and as much as people may disagree with it deal with it.
Crouchy is an awesome bloke and puts his heart into teamswans and helping others that much is clear.
Lets all give the bloke a break ey!OUR EDGE IS REGComment

I like Crouch to be in the team, because he is our pest, but never Ben Mathews. Sorry mate, your time is up I'm afraid.Comment

Crouch has been a fantastic servant of this club, is a premiership player and has obviously been injured for much of the year. No this doesn't mean he is immune from criticism, however it does mean he deserves a level of respect.
So Picture this... Nick Davis, comes off the ground at ANZ after playing 2nds before the Bombers game. Sits down with all his "shire" mates (sorry normal shire people, if there is such a thing) and proceeds to shove a Krispy Kreme in his mouth! tHEN.... Hamburger and Chips!!!
Im sorry mate... Put in the hard yards, stop the fast food and maybe you'll get a run in the seniors!!Comment
