swans = celtics???

Is it just me or does the way Boston Celtics go about their business similar to the way the Swans go about theirs.

I've watched every game of the NBA finals series and the Celtics seems like hard working group of guys, who play for each and for their coach.

They seem to have huge respect for their coach and Doc Rivers coaching style is very similar to Roosy's, defence, defence, defence.

They only have about 3 big names players supported by hard working 2nd tier players.

I don't know, I just saw some similarity when watching it.

Considering the size of a NBA roster is about 15 players as well as the fact that they were "purchased" with big money in the off season, I wouldn't see too many similarities there.

Without the 3 of them they wouldn't have made any impact in the playoffs.

But I guess the way they play is somewhat similar, but then again there are many teams which you can say play like the swans. Guess it sounds better if comparisons are with a championship team.

Doc Rivers must have been the happiest coach on earth when Danny Ainge told him "I just got KG" then, after Doc came back to, "Oh, I got Ray Allen as well".

I'd say the Celtics are the NBA's Carlton, and Detroit is Collingwood.

Because the teams are smaller, it's easier to dominate the league if you get the right core group in the NBA. Taking this into account I'd say that San Antonio are the Swans of the NBA. No fuss, no frills, finals regulars - with a successful style that is constantly denigrated by (doofus) NBA fans.

Given these three are absolute NBA supertars and take up 3/5 of the starting positions most nights, that's huge... in fact they have more superstar-type players than just about any other team in the league. Combined with young talented guys like Rondo and Powell and really I think they are nothing like the Swans.

The Swans remind me of Pat Riley's New York Knicks in the early 1990s. Very strong defence, not so many stars, and offence built around a talented, if slightly flawed, big man.
