Seriously, what if?

What if Nick Davis' efforts were shown to be his best would he warrant a place in the side? I am not saying that they are, but if someone could provide some sort of evidence (and this is purley hypothetical, I am not suggesting it is possible) that Davis was applying the same efforts to his football as O'Keefe, or Kirk, or Bolton, but performaing at exactly the same standard, would he deserve a place in the side?
