    swans guernsey

I was thinking that seeing though the Brisbane Lions wear the old Fitzroy jumper and colours for all their Melbourne games, to honour the old Fitzroy football club, why don't the swans wear the old South Melbourne jumper(like the one they wear during heritage round) at all their games in Melbourne. To honour the South Melbourne football club. I just think this would be a nice thing to see. Your thoughts people?

LOL, do you have to do their laundry??

Nice idea Johnno, maybe the club hasn't considered it.
Maybe they have and didn't think it was a good idea, They've been trying hard to make their mark on the Sydney audience in recent years, so maybe that is a reason why not.

I'm pretty sure Tony Morwood was pushing for it a couple of years ago. It'd be the perfect away/clash strip.

Spot on johnno, but then the supporters based in Sydney will have a sook, and say they are called the "Sydney Swans"..not South Melbourne.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

            Well they are.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

That's right, even if the AFL does buy the ground out at Homebush we should still play at least one game at the SCG.

but they have taken in all of south melbourne's past history and records and incorporated it into the swans total existence as a football club. I was also thinking only for the home and away games, not finals and not non-victorian games. Sorry dont know how to put other peoples comment above mine to make this a direct respone to a previous comment.

We also need a *yawn* emoticon.

When has any Sydney based fan said the club shouldn't honour the South Melbourne heritage? This Sydney/Melbourne thing is tiresome and about time it was dropped.

It's a good idea and has been suggested a few times before.

BTW...Melbourne is still the best place to live.
