Except that Bevan was lauded at the pre-season dinner for his professionalism in the way he goes about preparing himself for games / trains. No other squad member had a similar comment made about them. It is quite likely it was designed to instill confidence in him, but does anyone reckon similar comments would ever be made about DN?

As this thread is threatening to become another Davo wailing wall, the really interesting thing is Rooseys assessment of the kid. Plays well forward, mid and back. Very coachable, task orientated and put his noggin over the ball. There may be a lesson in that for . . .. Nah. Crikey you have even got me doing it! Pub time.

No. There is a limit even for sports psychologists. Its called something vaguely approximating reality.

The point is though that it seems that only some attributes are valued by the club. Could Roos have said that Bevan is an exceptional kick, possessed of natural footy smarts and the bloke that you would most like kicking for goal after the siren?

I don't expect that such comments would ever be made about #2, and I would not expect them to be. I think my point is that the club seems to be acknowledging that confidence plays an importnant part in a player's performance, yet they seem to have been trying to bring Davis down a peg or two, to the point where he seems pretty shattered, for quite some time. You don't have to piss in a bloke's pocket to make him feel confident, but Davis has copped a fair amount public criticism, bordering on shaming, that I do not think has done him any good at all.
