    Round 14 - Collingwood

The Swans, whether as South Melbourne or Sydney, have never really enjoyed much success against Collingwood.

We've played the Magpies 211 times for 79 wins, 131 losses, and 1 draw. Our biggest win was 91 points back in 1987 at Victoria Park (of all places), and this is the only time we've ever really "ripped them a new one".

I'll be happy with a win of any description, especially after our woeful effort in the corresponding game last year.

It will be like the game against the Evils in Sydney earlier in the year. Swans to overrun them. We are a better team this year than in '07 when the pies clearly had the 'wood' on us.

I'm quietly confident about this game, regardless of past endeavors against them. Sydneys skill level has been on the rise for a while now. Hope I'm on the money.

It's been a long time since we've beaten the Pies (Round 13 2005) when we beat them by a single point.

Clearly the matchups since then have favoured Collingwood resulting in 3 losses against them last year and some woeful performances to match those losses.

The Swans are playing better footy this year, the addition of Mattner in the side has boosted the rebound from defence. Barry Hall is back, in prime form and hopefully there's no Wakelin to mark him. However, I think the Swans will look at different avenues to goal if Hall is tagged heavily.

Collingwood seem to lift in games they need to win.

I think they will beat us by about 15 points.

Please people, spare a thought for me, I am flying up for this game on Friday night on the last virgin flight to Sydney out of Tulla, and although I am not 100% sure of this, I think it is pretty safe to say I will be on a flight full of Collingwood supporters. The reason I say this is when I booked my ticket for this flight 3 months ago, this was the only flight left, everything else was all booked up. You never know, I might even see Joffa on this flight. That should be of fun....not. Having said that, I think the swans by over 39 and a half. (I need the swans to win by that much to collect on this rounds multi-bet, I got the other 3 legs).

We're a different side from 2007, but Pies will just get over the line (only because of the past 3 games we had).

Pies by a goal or less

I hope they prove me wrong.

There will only be a few points in it at 3/4 time, Kirky will then fire up the boys and Barlow will kick three in the final term to guide us to a win.

A victory on Saturday will defy Sydney's historical home game record against the Pies.

Collingwood are very likely to make the finals this year.Since the Swans have come to Sydney in 1982, Collingwood has made the finals a total of ten time, 1984, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1994, 2002, 2003, 2006, and 2007. Only once all of those ten seasons has Sydney managed to win a home game, that being in Round 5, 1989, when they won at the SCG 77 to 66. Collingwood have won all of the other 8 games played in Sydney.

So that means the Pies more than likely won't make the finals this year after they lose on Saturday night!
