would be nice if we could beat a top team. Not much has changed since last week if you ask me, as bad as it was it is just one game.

This week is almost must win though, as we need to beat a top team and we need to close the gap with the top 3.
Theres not much left to say

That gap is irrelevant. The gap we need to worry about is opening the gap between 4th and 5th.

Its a bit of a catch-22. How long would we want to avoid Geelong for? Assume that we can finish in the top four. Would you rather:

Play Geelong in first week, and even if we lost, know that we couldn't play them again until the GF; or

Avoid Geelong in the first week, still loose and have to play a preliminary final against them to make the GF (assuming that Geelong won in the first week and we could win in the second week)

I would rather finish 4th and have Geelong finish 1st and play them in first week of finals. Agree it is the gap between 4th & 5th that is the biggest concern.

i guess the gaps are both related anyway, to keep the gap on 5th we will hopefully knock off the top 3 along the way and catch up anyway

I doubt we will finish top 4 now.

But we should finish 5th or 6th and get a home final at least.

Collingwood are a bogey side. I knew they would beat us.

5 wins will get us there comfortably. Any of Brisbane, Collingwood and Adelaide will need to win 7 of 8 in order to pass us.

If we have a greta run home we will finish 4th.
If we have an average run home we should still finish 4th.

We have a good history of travelling in the 1st final and knocking off the top tem. Port one year and we would have beaten the evils in another.

Realistically we are pretenders after last night. Both Collingwood and Geelong have the game plan to beat us. Geelong and Bulldogs have the skill to beat us. Hawthorn question mark until next week.

I like Currie a lot, but I honestly just don't see that he would instantly automatically offer as much as Spida. He shanked some kicks, but I thought his ruckwork was just swell.

Right now we lost nothing in ruck contests when our backup comes on.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I hear a Platters record starting up on the juke box...

"oh-oh, yes, I'm the great pretender
                              Pretending that I'm doing well
My need is such; I pretend too much...."

                              et al
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."
