He does! Attempted striking is still an offence.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

So the debate should be...Was he intending to strike, I'm sure his defence, if needed, will be... "I was just firing a warning shot over the bow, if I wanted to connect I would have." Therefore no intent to strike.

Thats right. There is no recklessness in an attempt. You have to connect. He can claim it was a reflex action to shrug off a scragging opponent. Very hard to prove on the balance of probabilities it was an attempted punch. He shouldn't be charged.

If it were any other team and any other player, nothing more would be heard of it... but because it's sydney and its bazza, it wouldn't surprise me if they charge him...after that it's any one's guess. As Goodes last bump was even weaker than aussie beer, and he got a week, nothing the MRP does is beyond possibility.
Personally, I have no issue with Bazza punching out anyone from the druggies (especially Hunter), the drunks, the filth, the bummers or the dawks.
Anyway, I may be wrong on this (it may have been a dream), but I think I remember Fraser Gherig taking a swing at someone, missing and clocking an umpire instead. He got off as he wasn't aiming at the ump...
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

Some years ago a Geelong player got off a striking charge as he missed the guy he was aiming at and hit a team-mate.

I'm not a fan of the bumsniffers codes, but watching the news tonight I was mighty impressed with the biffo at the rugger. It made bazza's efforts look like those of the sugarplum fairy in the nutcracker...

What is going on with Hall. Unbelievable....He is either
                      a) Completely moronic
                      b) Has serious mental issues
                      c) All of the above.

FFS another stupid act by a Swannies player is going to cost us. When are they going to pull their heads in.

That certainly could be his defence, but he certainly has a case to answer.

A Collingwood supporter has told me that he didn't even hit Wakelin. It looks like he did from the most popular view, the only one I've seen, and only a couple of times, at that, but apparently there is another angle which shows that he missed by ten centimetres or so.

Also, from what I've seen, it looked more like a fend/shove than an attempted punch. His fist didn't appear to be closed (but I'm prepared to stand corrected on that). He didn't swing his upper body and move through the shoulder, which is what he did in the Staker incident, and is how you punch. My first instinct, before any pro-Swans or anti-Collingwood bias crept in (and anyway, I'm not a massive fan of Hall, and Wakelin is one of the only Magpies that I like), was that it was a clumsy fend. Meh, whatevz. We seem to play better without him than with him anyway. It might give White another chance.

Hall was the reason we never really looked in danger of capitulating in the Capital a fortnight ago, despite ordinary second and third quarters. The only blot on Hall's book in that game was that he missed 5.

He was dreadful last night- very ill-disciplined rather than focussing on winning what contests he could. But just can't agree that the team is better without him.

If he does miss, I think it will Reg who comes in, not White. Reg has played some very very good football over the last month and deserves another crack at senior football.

He didnt attempt to strike at all,if he did he wouldnt have missed from that angle. So there fore he has nothing to answer for at all.
