David mustn't think much of the Swans anymore to let his son sign a scholarship deal with the Saints

What does he do these days? Maybe he needs to 20K a year or whatever the scholarship provides! lol

I would have thought waiting out the natural progression of his son's development to see if the Swans were interested would have made more sense. 14 years of age is awfully young to be effectively removing the chance of him playing for the Swans.

There was more to that situation than met the eye. And I think if you asked David he would say that he's more than happy that he didn't go with the Swans. And he's not the only propspect that feels the same way.

The money comment was tongue in cheek btw.

I know the scholarship program is important for retention but it doesn't really give any incentives for late developers and has the potential to demotivate the next level of players.

Just don't think we should be losing a potential F/S selection because we rate another 14/15 year old higher at this stage.
