Well, when they do a hamstring, they call it a hamstring injury. When they do a calf muscle, they call it a calf injury. When they snap an achilles, it's an achilles injury. When they rupture their spleen, they say they've ruptured their spleen. When they get concussed, they call it concussion. When you damage your brain, they call it a brain injury. Etcetera.Comment

When reporting injuries in brief in the media, whether from car accidents or whatever, they typically refer to head injuries rather than being more specific.
