    Eastlake v Reserves (Sunday 2pm @ Manuka)

    http://sydneyswans.com.au/News/NewsA...x?newsId=63167

All 3 emergencies named but you would imagine at least 1 would be at the MCG as a travelling reserve.

Crouch and Davis back. Meredith is out, and Barlow and Faulks look to have recovered. Still no Fossie

The regular reserves watchers keep saying that Ves is not fit enough yet to play AFL football, yet he's always amongst the goals.

Is there any chance he could be used as a forward pocket this weekend?

Interesting to see Bruce amongst the best - a former Eastlakes boy.

Big upset, Belconnen toppled by Queanbeyan.

Also includes a report on the Eastlake-Swans game.

Note that Grundy's name is now missing from the list, he must have been at the MCG.

Davo injury confirmed - knee dislocation. The description of how it occurred is almost comical.

            Crouch and RBN also injured.

Just been through the AFL Canberra thread on BigFooty, it seems that the Swans were missing their usual number of topups - there's only 21 names on the list, short of the usual 24.

Sydney only started with four on the bench instead of the usual five after the designated AFL Canberra clubs for this weekend, Ainslie and Belconnen, didn't provide the number of top-up players they were required to

That is absolutely nuts, guys being targeted by bushleaguers is the biggest fear of sending someone to the magoos.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

Is it common to see Swans ressies being targetted?

Good to see Allison has been listening to Roos' press conferences...
''We'll have a look through the tapes on a Monday like we always do, but I didn't see it so I can't say anything really,'' Allison said.

The bigger names certainly seem to get a bit of extra treatment in the games. In reality I'm sure that in this case it's just more of a freak oddity that his kneecap popped out.

I would have thought that in BBBH we've had a recent reminder that thuggish behaviour isn't confined to "bushleaguers". It doesn't hurt more or less because you have or haven't ever heard of the guy who hit (or in this case flung) you. I don't think that what seemed like a late tackle, followed by retaliation by Davo, followed by an all-in brawl, could be defined as being 'targeted'.

There may be a culture of physical intimidation of the Swans' 2nds in the Canberra comp. Certainly comp GM David Wark wrote an article complaining about the approach of some sides to Sydney, back in April/May. But that's a different issue to the quality of the comp. Belconnen (despite weekend upset) are generally miles ahead of the rest of the comp in terms of skill, and are also renowned as one of the physically harder teams.

MCVeigh used to get heaps when I was regularly going to their games, as did Schauble in his year in Canberra. Davo cops a fair bit of it more recently.

No no, I think it is just an oddity that it popped out so seems worse than what in reality was probably just a bit of argey bargey... but I do think they were quicker to step in because it was Nick Davis than they would have been if it was Nick Smith.

I disagree about the BBBH comment, whilst his behaviour was thuggish the reason it received so much media play was because it was out of the norm for AFL level in the modern game. Not suggesting it happens all the time in bush leagues, but I think it's fair to say it's a lot more common.

I believe they do - nothing illegal but they know they've got to do it in an attempt to put off the higher skilled players from their usual game.

Crouch not actually injured, just reached his alloted playing time.
