    ummmm....not sure about this Roosy.

Was reading "THE AGE" newspaper this morning, and came across a paragraph which has got me confused, apparently Roos is happy with the way the forward line performed on the weekend and not happy with the defenders...."Roos called for his defenders to get back to basics to stop a slide out of the top 4. quote"Our forward line was probably the least of our worries on the weekend, it was actually really one of the few positives" end quote. Now dont get me wrong, I luv Paul Roos, I do think he is the best thing since sliced bread, but after reading that, I wonder if he was at the same game I was. I mean, the forward line didnt perform well at all and the as far as the defenders are concerned, well in my opinion, there is not much they can do if the Hawks midfield can deliver the ball into their forward line with such ease. no defense would have been able to cope with that. Your thoughts people???

    Roos was 90% right

I agree but the forwards should have kicked straight ... if they had it would have made it a lot easier ... but our problem is defensive pressure

In 2008 under Paul Roos stewardship, Sydney has:
      - Brought tanking to Sydney (Does anyone buy the "joke" excuse...really??)
      - Brought us a massive fine for interchange cheating.
      - Had one of best forward playing in the reserves all year. Your job Roosey, is to get the best team on the paddock, and get the best out of the players.
      - Put our one dominant forward out of the team indefinitely. Following the Davis route to reabilitation perhaps ?
      - Played Matthews in a game. Charity case.
      - Recruited the likes of Playfair, Everitt, etc for decent draft picks.

Its been a @@@@ of a year, you'd think we were tanking if we werent 4th!

However, if their forwards had of kicked straight, then the game would have been a whitewash. Same goes for last week.

Agree, I also was surprised by his comments, You need to kick goals to win matches, 2 weeks in a row our forward line went missing. I know we miss a lot of easy shots but in the past we have still been able to kick enough goals to win or at least get close. Roosey needs to rethink his ideas.

C'mon guys ... two losses - chillax. A lot of us predicted we'd be in the criminal budgie shoes right now. Two losses have put 4th spot in jeopardy, but all in all, we're still in 4th spot.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I think his comment has some merit. IMO we are lagging behind the leading forward and hardly there when the ball comes in to spoil or create a contest.
Our usage in D50 is crap as are our kick-ins. How many turnovers did we have in our D50 on the weekend and against Pies?

Roos needs to get it right now

Roos is an excellent coach who has made many right decsions. In the case of Davis he needed to change dramatically the way he plays .. that unfortunately in Nick's case means an extended period in the reserves. If Davis had lifted his intesity and shown the improvement he would have been back inthe seniors very quickly. But what is driving Roos is the simple fact that Davis would not get the ball and therefore woudl not have shots on goals if he did'nt change the way he played and even worse he would have represeneteed a significant threta tot he team if the ball kept popping out of our forward line very quickly.

He has though now IMO a very big challenge to restore some confidence and steel to our team in the big games. How he rerspond we will know in the Manuka game in a few weeks. A team is nevenr up all seasons so let's wait and see ... but theire is real prressure this week as if we lose to the Blues his task will become near impossible. but with big bucks comes big pressure ... persoanlly i would love us to lock it down this week and watch the melbournre press howl ... this would make a big point it is not how you win but if you win...

Exactly. Get things in perspective, people. We'll spank the beejeezus outta Carlton this week and get the season back on track.

We've played 15 rounds and we are in the top 4.

I'm pretty happy where we are at the minute, it's a shame you're not.
