Surely that would not include Melbourne.

Last time I heard they had close to 8000 in Melbourne, which means only 20,000 or so in Sydney?

Nup, that looks about right. Sydney membership has dropped in '07 and '08 compared to the spike in '06.

Lets say there is 7000 in Melbourne, and around another 1000 in other capital cities besides Melbourne.

That makes 18,000 members in Sydney.

And the AFL want a second team up there. Good luck!

Im telling you right now if we dont have sucess or we do a Freo or West Coast watch more nos in our membership drop in Sydney. BOOKMARK IT.
I can remember Myles Baron-Hay saying how the Premiership would drive membership , well 3 years down the track its surely not doing that.

Absolutely...with the banks robbing people blind with mortgage hikes out of kilter with the RBA, the cost of petrol and food skyrocketing, it is understandable that things like a footy club membership may come down the list of priorities. We are reviewing our membership for 2009 because of these and other factors, a shame since we have been members since 87. I also don't like decisions made by the club at the end of last year (dumping Schneider and Dempster and getting Playfair and Mattner), or the shabby treatment this year of ND, or the awful skill level and commitment shown these past two matches...Lots of things weigh up a decisin to become/remain a member...not just premiership success. And, we failed as a team to build on that 2005 result, with a poor effort in the first half of the 2006 grannie...and thus drive memberships...

That 26,721 only includes game access members in Sydney and Melbourne (ie fully ticketed).

It does not include ANZ Stadium super passes, other interstate members or support members such as kids/pets etc.

The club recently confirmed they had over 8,200 ticketed members in Melbourne which means that number in Sydney is only around 18,000 which I must say is poor and a little worrying considering that membership should be boosted by the SCG capital works with people wanting to make sure they had a seat.

Will be interesting to see what the club does next year re prices with a larger GA reserve at the SCG.

Do the numbers here included all the people that promise each week to tear up their membership over one issue or another?

Interesting to see Swans registered the biggest percentage drop for the year, dropping from 13tjh to 15th, ahead of only Brisbane.

But the numbers are not driven just by onfield performance, the Bulldogs are having their best year since whenever and have dropped 1.5%. Freo has actually increased members!

I suspect Swans numbers are coming off a 2005-2006 high. Does anybody know what member numbers were over 2004-2006?
