Swans Central Coast Supporters Group to form

The Sydney Swans are going to set up a supporters group on the Central Coast.

This will capitalise on the 2,000 or so members who reside on the Coast and will compliment other similar groups in Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Tasmania together with regional supporter groups in NSW and other states of Australia.

Those interested in joining a SydneySwans Central Coast Supporter Group are invited to bring their family and friends to Mingara Recreation Club at Tumbi Umbi on Wednesday 23 July at 7:00pm where Jarrad McVeigh will make up part of a welcoming group which will also include former Swans great, Tony Morwood - who is now the General Manager of Swans Melbourne, Canberra and Regional Areas and Craig Davis to join and learn more about what the group can do and provide for members.

The choices of models used by similar groups around the country will be outlined at the Mingara gathering as well as establishing a working committee to manage and oversee the establishment of the group as it moves forward.

For catering purposes officials would appreciate an indication of numbers and those intending should RSVP by Monday 21st July, 2008 to the Sydney based Craig Davis on 0418 165 982 or Email: [email protected] .

The BDAFL supports this initiative and encourages people to join together as a support mechanism for the Swans.

Good luck mate. I have mates who travel down to every game from the Coast. Indeed when I had a partner in Necastle & caught the train down I was surprised as to how many in red & white would get on at Gosford & Woy Woy.

We have a few Coasties on here. Hopefully they can make themselves known.

What activities will your supporters club get up to exactly? Meeting up to watch away games? Trips down together on the train for home games?

Any help I can give, just ask.

I did a double take here as Ulverstone is part of the Central Coast Council here in Tassie. I thought "You ripper I won't have to travel down to Hobart" but no there is another part of the world that has a central coast. Don't they know the world revolves around Ulverstone(very tongue in cheek)

Very poor effort at comedy, considering wife beating comments.

There are lots of supporters on the Central Coast of NSW. As a member of Gosford Tigers JAFL, you might recall a current scholarship holder with the Swans called Jay Lewis is from our Club. Another lad, surname Webster is with essendon. Two more scholarship players from the central coast as well. One is with the Bulldogs and the other, the standout of the lot is with the knuckledragging magpies.

We have a very healthy competition here and there is as much off field rivalry between Clubs as there is on the field. The McVeigh's old Club, Killarney Vale Bombers do a wonderful job unifying the other Clubs. Everyone hates them.

I'm not sure what the intention is but will go along. Perhaps a practise match up here each pre-season. I'd like to see coaches organised to take people down in comfort similar to what the Newcastle Knights do with their supporters for Sydney games.

The Club is taking this seriously because of the people attending, so I urge others from this area to attend.

Mingara is a very large Club on the Coast. The Wiggles have performed there. How's that for credibility.

I won't mention the fight in the Kitchen between two Korean nationals in about 1999 which demonstrated why you shouldn't upset an angry chef with a very very large knife. They actually chased each other between diners, causing some to faint, before one of them had a very gruesome ending in the kitchen. The area has since been extensively renovated and all memories removed.

Should be a good meeting.
