But did the club and the leadership group caberet singers have to get on the tv and in the papers everyday and keep going on and on about it? No!!! As I said previously the media can make or break a person - and when the person breaks the media put their hands up and say "it wasnt us!" It should have all been handled in house. One media statement made and thats all - the actual incident didnt match the media over reaction.Comment

whhops my bad. Like I just posted.... I don't tend to listen to the BS media when it comes to sports sensationalism.
but thanks for pointing out the very difference between psychiatry and psychology. It seems that a lot of members on here need to differentiate the 2Comment

Did I say you weren't a real fan or suggest the same? I dont think I did. I was talking about the fact that the club made the whole situation so public was what I didnt agree with. So are you saying that if someone chooses to read a newspaper or watch the news - whether they beleive what they read or hear or not that they dont have a life? So pleased you have more too do - if thats case what are you doing wasting your precious time (and ours) being on RWO?I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

What you are saying, I agree with. They do not have a right. Neither do people who post unsubstantiated rumours and innuendo on this forum, but it happens. You just gotta learn to deal with it and sift through the crap.
Just because I quote you doesn't mean I am attacking you as a person, just using your post as a reference point to what I was thinking at the time. No need for personal insults.Comment

It's all a matter of subtlety over wording, perception and possible misinterpretation.
When the Swans came out quickly with the "indefinite suspension" of Hall and not knowing when he would return, the perception amongst most people was that it was going to be a reasonable time. Notwithstanding the later clarifications about "sooner rather than later", there was still a belief I think that it would last longer than the single week after the MRP suspension expired. The comments also tended to suggest that the selection panel was not necessarily in total control over when he returned.
Returning him this week because the forward line needs him tends to undermine the perceived view that the suspension was for his own good above that of the club, that it was unknown when he would return, that it would be for some time, that it wasn't totally within their control, and that Hall had a lot to work through.
I think a better approach, as I think I said at the time, would have been for the club not to have said anything about "indefinite suspensions" at the time. In the week following the MRP suspension if they wanted to leave him out they could have done so and just said it was for personal reasons and would be reassessed on a weekly basis. Most of the assessment could be done behind closed doors and not out in the public.
Not enormously dissimilar, but I believe subtlely different to their initial announcement and opens them less to cynical accusations.
Some people may not care what others think, which is fine, but some people may be interested in discussing different approaches and resulting effects and perceptions.

If they didn't come out when they did to get it over and done with, the questions would have been magnified after his suspension was finished but he was not selected when available. The media would have been all over it.
Given some of the hints that were trotted out last week prior to MOL getting injured, I personally believe Hall was always going to be back for this game. The injury to MOL has come at an unfortunate time in more ways than one now, as it does indeed leave them open to the cynical accusations.
I fail to see how the club should cop flak because they didn't forsee MOL's injury. @@@@ happens and unfortunately circumstances have not been kind on this issue.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

The reason they said that he would return sooner rather than later was because of the so called peception that he would be out for a resonable amount of time(whatever that is) even after Roos had said it could be one week it could be next year. They also didnt suggest that the selection panel wasnt in control of when he would be selected, Roos flat out stated that he wouldnt be picked until the shrink said he was ok to play. Everyone is just jumping to the conclusion that he will be picked because Micky O is out when he may well have been picked even if M O was going to play and maybe it is for his own good he gets back to playing and puts all this @@@@ behind him. It has never been suggested that he had alot to work through, all they said was that he had some issues that needed to be delt with before he returned and that the Doc would be the judge of that. It took three extra weeks so people should just ACCEPT IT and get on with it rather than jumping too conclusionsThe edge is not the limit, It's just the starting point...Comment

So the football world's perception of the Swans has become a major influence on how the team should act???
My biggest concern was that whilst Barry Hall was being continually niggled by Wakelin (or others of his ilk for that matter) there was not 1 single Swans player coming in to bat for Hally. He simply needs someone else to come in between him and the full back just as support occassionally. I know he's a big bloke and can look after himself but that's the way we used to play and from what I know it's a team game and at times you need your teammates to stand up and support you.
Hally cannot be excused for what he did but it would help, if he is once again continually niggled, to have some sort of support, whether by a teammate or the coaching staff in perhaps making a positional move.Comment
