    To all the Playfair knockers....

......you still think he is useless and shouldn't be in the team???

As it turns out, when he went off tonight we were @@@@@@. He may not be the greatest set shot, but he's tall, provides a contest, knows where and when to lead and we missed him tonight more than anyone could have imagined.

Did you notice all those blokes on the wing and half back all night, stagnant, standing there scratching their heads with no one to kick it to? They've been kicking it to Playfair and were lost without him.

Should have moved someone else in there sooner. As it was Bevan was matched up on Moran which didn't help Hall's cause. When Richards moved there in the 2nd half at least we had some sort of option.

You're probably right but I don't think the absence of one player made much of a difference to the overall result.

When Playfair went down the obviously one to try up forward was Grundy. Alas that change never happened.

Ugg, I agree with you AND it reinforces my point.

Even though he has his faults, he is vital in the structure of our forwards.

Playfair is good at presenting and marking across half forward and also his field kicking is reasonable. We really fall down moving from wing to F50 without that option. It's one that Richards filled in reasonably well and can possibly do it again. We will struggle to kick goals without someone doing this and I'm not sure if Hall can do that particularly well. We do have some major forward line problems - we had them already with Playfair in and they will now get worse.

We need a new version of Mickey-O (not that I want to get rid of the old one).

We just need multiple options, multiple being more than 1 or 2, end of story.

We're really going to struggle to find a way to kick a winning score in our run home. God help us if we're relying on Richards to be our avenue into F50.

There seems to be a reluctance to play Grundy up forward. Why is this?

One of the big issues last night was there were no running goals from our mids, the Crows know how to shut down our forward line so our mids need to kick goals in that instance.

6 posters certainly dont help either ( or goal umpiring)

If what you say is true, then it says more about the lack of a functioning forwardline than it does about Playfair. IMO...he's a journeyman/ fill in player at best. For starters, he's slow and he can't kick at goal to save himself.

Was saying exactly the same thing myself. Grundy showed real class last night so he's definitely up to AFL standard. Hopefully the injury to Playfair might force Roos' hand to actually play Grundy in his best position.

He could not get a game with Geelong why Sydney. Probaby because he hails from NSW. We would be better off playing White.

Brennan kicks as well as Playfair and he did kick 9 in the 2's a while back. He is lively and can take a mark and with some planning he could be coaxed to handballing off to a running player, only problem is we don't have any.

Agree entirely, a mobile tall perhaps our third or fourth forward only a handful of games and to my mind a long way short of worst over the last 6 weeks or so.

Dumb selection Brennan should have replaced Goodes.
