    Roos blames injuries

    I'm not sure injuries were the reason we lost tonight but it's a convenient excuse I guess.

    Anyhow, looks like Goodes will definitely be missing next week.

    He shouldn't have been out there tonight. He couldn't run, he couldn't give us more than a player from the 2s would have given. Poor selection IMO.

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

    If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

        Why was Goodes playing tonight? He was no more than a spectator. The coaches have much to answer regarding tonights abyssmal performance.

          I was wondering what spin he would put on this.

          The game plan failed as much last night as did the execution of it. Roos needs to pull his head in and accept that Collingwood and Adelaide have a great record against us because they know how to beat the way we play.

          Why he played Goodes tonight is beyond me. To say he'd be crazy to play him next week is rather amusing and self defeating.

          Injuries are a concern because, in part, we've been playing senior guys on premiership credits until the start of this year. I said this would catch up with us eventually and guess what, it has.

          Roos rightly takes the credit when things go well, now he has to take at least part of the debit.

          Having said all that, it is remarkable that we sit 4th on the ladder. Although,it is completely illusory, anything can happen in the finals, but probably won't.

              Roos blames injuries, I blame lack of pace....A quick run through some of those playing last night...Playfair, LRT, Mathews, J Bolton, Ablett, Grundy, Everitt, Kirk, an injured Goodes, Bevan....there are others but you get the point...
              What do they have in common?....No pace.
              I'm not saying pace is everything, it isn't, Kirky is testament to that, but it leaves our team with no option but to play slow, stoppage filled footy...no plan B when things are going badly...when teams flood us sucessfully like last night...we don't have the troops to try and open the game up....and when Roos brings in a player like Mathews ahead of a pacey Smith, then obviously he isn't interested in pace, no matter what he says.
              Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MT

                Not only are the players dumb, but with Adelaide beating us 9 out of the last 10 times (I believe, correct me if I'm wrong), it's not as though the coaching staff didn't have enough time or evidence to come up with a plan to beat the Crows zone defence. And here again, we went a half of football and only kicked two goals...it's happened so many times that [we only kick one goal a quarter, or none, or two in a half] it must be endemic, and it needs to be looked at....
                "Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

                  Since 2004 we have played Adelaide and Collingwood 13 times for an average score of 66 points, with 3 wins and 10 losses. Since 2005 we have not beaten either of them and have lost 8 times.

                    The selection of Goodes shows player empowerment has gone too far. I assume he would have been asked during the week if he was right to play, when someone in the coaching / medical staff should have just told him he was not playing.

                    I'll give Roos the benefit of the doubt. He must have missed training to work on the game plan for last night.

                      Was probably at the airport making sure that Nick D did not get on the same plane as Sonny Bill.

                        That's a good point. It would be interesting to see how many other 'finals' sides have such regular low scoring halves of football.

                          I think @@@@e skills and dumb decisions and Bazza's RPMcMurphy impersonation had more to do with last night but think of the fringe candidates and injuries

                          * Fossie - injured
                          * Davis - injured
                          * Schmidt - injured
                          * Laidlaw - injured
                          * Barlow - injured
                          * DOK - injured
                          * Vez - playing but not fit

                          Add those to Goodes, Mal, Magic, Leo and Bucky's suspension and Roos has a serious decision to make

                          Persist with plodders like Ben or try a Smith or Currie or Brab

                            There have been a number of matches this year we were a rabble.

                            They appear clueless.

                            I have no idea why but I am sure others no what I mean.

                              We had plenty of inside 50s. We just did not create enough opportunities up forward.

                              With Hall just back, O'Loughlin out, Playfair going down early and Adam Goodes injured... I think it is probably fair to say that injuries played a part.
