Young Swans to benefit from injury woes

Official AFL Website of the Sydney Swans > News Article > Young Swans to benefit from injury woes

THE SWANS? injury woes could lead to opportunities for younger squad members with development coach Brett Allison confirming that 21-year-old Ryan Brabazon is ?knocking the door down? for selection.
Brabazon, Veszpremi, White and that young gun Crouch.

I suppose he is the next in line. A fit running midfielder, knows the ground better than most. Seems logical selection.
    cheers

The Swans' media room doing a little 'hi, how you going?' to RWO. Isn't that cute?

If you could lay bets on this sort of thing, all of my hard-earned would be on Brabazon being in the 25, but not the 22, this weekend.

Although more seriously, the fact that they've published this has enormously increased his chances of surviving the cut at the end of the year.

Given it's up forward where we need reinforcements and a bit of spark, I think that article reads pretty well for Veszpremi's chances this week.

For all the talk of bringing in some new blood....I'm willing to put plenty of hard earned on one B Mathews holding his place after his stellar return last week.

The article mentions the progress of Brendon Murphy and being earmarked for a key position role in the backline next season. I say bring him in for a taste of senior footy this season and play him permanently alongside Tadgh next season.

Hopefully the Irish combo in the backline will sway Tadgh into staying for another 2 or 3 year deal !! I can just see the Irish combining and streaming out of the backline now.....

Benny finally had a kick after the siren etc etc.....Good on him, but I can't see him recementing his place. then again....what would I know about the thought patterns of coaches. I am a humble (yeah right) follower of the game in all its glory and disillusion.

They will probably go a tall forward to replace Playfair so White would be a chance. Goodes is listed as out so maybe Brabazon to come into the midfield, although it's more likely Eski will come back in, in defence and maybe Mattner will play further afield.

Vespa to replace Matthews forward would be a good move.

What's happened to Barlow and Schmidt? How's their form going in the 2's?

Schmidt's out for the rest of the year with a knee injury.

Barlow has been injured too (Hamstring?) so he hasn't been playing.

Leo's return will allow Grundy to push forward to be Playfair's replacement.

                              Malceski for Goodes.

Hopefully Vesz for Mathews, but I equally wouldn't be surprised to see Bumbling Benny keep his spot.
