The Paul Roos experiment of coaching from the sideline is not working. In his time of coaching from the bench, he has won one scrappy game. Either he is not seeing the full game play from the sideline and making bad decisions or the other coaches in the swans box are not on the ball and not providing Roos with enough good information. Whatever it is, it ain't working. Back to the box Paul.

I don't know what difference it makes whether he's on the bench or not.
We sat behind the bench on Saturday night.
Roosey had a big LCD screen in front of him that had the players positions on it, and was talking constantly in his earpiece to the box upstairs.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light. -
Based on what?
We won 5 or 6 in a row with him coaching from the bench.
I don't see the big deal.
Technically if he wants the best insight into what is going on during the game, he'd be watching a monitor. But there are pros and cons for everything, and he obviously feels like he is able to communicate with the players more effectively from the bench, so if it works for him.....The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.Comment

i doubt it makes a difference.
who knows, perhaps if he did not coach from the bench we would not of won as many gamesTheres not much left to sayComment

Maybe he should watch the game via the hubble telescope to get a wider angle view, maybe thru a kaliedascope for imagination, maybe thru beer goggles for that everythings ok view. Who cares, he's a great coach wherever he coaches from, players win matches

You can't see everything from the sideline, and it doesn't matter how many LCD TVs you have in front of you, the only way to see the full extent of your opponents game play is in the box.
Roos said earlier this year they will use the concept of a "bench coach" and it will either be Roos or Longmire. New assistant coach Mark Stone would handle the stoppages and clearances while either Roos or Longmire (whoever is in the box) would get a better overall view of the game.
While Roos is checking the heartbeat of the players coming off, Longmire is doing a crap job of overseeing the most important role.
Roos actually looked relieved when he won his only scrappy game while coaching from the sideline. The Swans game play and response to opposition moves has been far superior when Roos has spent the game in the box.
You may be able to get away with coaching on the sideline in NFL and basketball - but to see the full extent of the game play and use the brilliant mind that Roos has as a coach, he needs to stay in the box.
We can only hope this is not the start of a handover to Longmire.Comment
