    Jeff White

Could be the player to bridge us through the development of Currie, Oreal et al? Would be quite ironic coming to play second fiddle to Jolly...

Any informed thoughts on where he's at as a player?
"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.

Think he's still playing well enough to continue playing. Don't think we need him though.

Wouldn't be a bad option. Not sure of his age though....

I think Melbourne trying to snare Robert Warnock from the Dockers, White could be traded as they'll keep Mark Jamar and Paul Johnson, as they are younger.

White wouldn't be that dear too, so it could be worth a gamble.

Why don't you think we need him?
Spider is looking unlikely to go on.
If you've had a good look at the younger ruckmen you'd probably conclude they're a couple of years away.
        What are the options?

The feeling I get from posters who regularly watch the reserves is that Currie will be ready to play next year. If this is the case, I don't want to see a 31 year old Jeff White standing in his way.

He'll be 32 next season. Biggest problem is that he's not that tall (195cm) so his age may limit his vertical leap, and the introduction of the centre circle affected his ability at centre bounces.

Still looks pretty agile so he'd be a good follower and he's an outstanding mark and kick so would also be a useful forward option.

I think he could be handy for 1-2 years while the younger ruckmen are getting up to speed.

Someone mentioned elsewhere how ironic it would be to recruit White as a back up ruckman to Jolly!!!

If White is 31, then I wouldn't want him either. I thought he was around the 27 year age bracket.

White's strength has always been his stamina which has allowed him to play long periods of games and cover all parts of the ground. Now that he's older he's lost the ability to do this and his rucking skills are such that he can't rely on them alone (unlike Spida who is still a good tap ruckman).

I doubt he would be of any interest to the Swans.

Just as Carlton has thrown Kruezer into the fire and Brisbane with Luenberger, there is no reason why Currie can't play seniors next year and continue his development with the big boys.

Some people on here must be having a laugh, surely.

                      Ridiculous idea.

It's all good and well to consider what he would bring to the table but can you imagine what we would be asked to give up to get him?

I don't want him but you wouldn't have to give up much to get him. He has been dropped from their side this year. If there's no interest in terms of a trade, I suspect he'll be delisted.

We would have to waste a draft pick to get him. Not a good idea given the situation of our list.

Well the Swans did recruit Spida...

White and Everitt have played roughly the same number of games this year (13 vs. 12) and although he concedes some height compared to other ruckmen, White has been in good form averaging over 18 hitouts a game and just under 19 disposals per game making him a more than effective mobile ruckman.

If he doesn't get injured, the Swans could get at least 2 good seasons out of him.
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

And what a fantastic move that was...

White has a better attitude than Everitt, so I wouldn't object on that ground, and I like the irony of him playing backup to Jolly. Still, constantly topping up is denying the young ruckmen a chance to prove themselves and a waste of money and draft picks. Especially with future drafts being crippled, we can't afford to do that.

Ricky Mott was given a chance out of nowhere, and broke the Swans record for hit-outs in a game on debut. His attitude cost him a spot, but that's quite rare. Why not give somebody else a chance?
