I'd maybe be tempted by this if our defence had turned a corner and come into some miraculous form if we hold Lions to a grand total of 3 for the game (all rushed).
This must be accompanied by the swans winning ALL the clearances and our forward line kicking a lazy 100 or so.

Bingo. And given we will know where we sit before we run out on Saturday night, I expect them to do just this.

They may name as strong a side as we can. If we are in a position to get 4th or 5th, they may name our strongest team. If we cannot, I suspect the three emergencies may get a run.

This would appear to be a common sense type of strategy. There are players who could use a rest and players who need the run. Goodes, Moore, B2, maybe even Bird could use a spell, Fossie, Mick, Hall, Vez, Crouch could all do with match fitness at top level, B1 appears to thrive on more footy as does the Captain. Maybe ROK is buggered, would explain his outing last week, he was working exceptionally hard while Hall was on vacation and since. But these are just thoughts, until we know who wins what lets hope for a home final at the SCG, common sense here please. Olympic stadium indeed, they can bow that out their collective

To be honest even if we lost against Brisbane & we put in, I could handle it.

To see the team play like that last week was completely un-Swans-like. They threw in the towel before the ball was even bounced.

We only need to win by a point - and I think that considering how crap they have been of late, our boys would be thrilled to get a win. It might raise the confidence level a bit. The Lions might have other ideas though.
As much as it pains me to say it, unless we can have a major change in performance, attitude and effort, we really are just making up the numbers come September..

Any win would be good but the team seems to me to be sufferring a serious lack of confidence and I sense a resignation that they even think the season is over. What they need more than the win is a serious four quarters of effort and some cohesion that would give them confidence leading into the following week. I dont buy the "we are tired" crap as earlier in the season they constantly were sprouting on about how the longer preseason had given them renewed vigour for this year.

The current situation is quite incredible when you consider it really wasnt that long ago that i think Wallace was saying after we killed richmond that we were the best team they had played all year.

Nice win that. Goodes, O'keefe, maybe O'loughlan to come back in. Home final against North or Saints.
