Finals positions to avoid the Cats

I have analised this too much, however I share my thoughts.

When we lost against the Hawks and Roos earlier in the season and missed the chance to finish either 2nd or third, we then needed to finish 5th or 8th to miss playing the Cats on the way to the Grand final. (Assuming the Cats win thier first finals game - YOU only want to beat them once in the finals and the GF is a good time to do it)

Whilst 2nd or 3rd would have been preferable 5th or 8th is next best to avoid.....

Appears that may happen, we could finish 5th or 8th. Under my understanding of the finals if we win we will miss the cats in the prelim finals week 3.....

Maybe the Roos master plan is very deep! Or my logic / analisis is flawed?

Oh dear you have got it bad......go and take a Bex and have a good lie down. You have become overheated. I don't think it was intentional on the Swans/Roos behalf....but this analysis does take your mind off other things.

Fourth would've been best. Play them the first week - win, lose or draw you don't meet them until the GF.

Sadly, we've blown all of our opportunities to sew up fourth spot.

Perhaps we should have gone for the early draft picks when things started to go horribly wrong. Rubbish. I have this nagging feeling that things only really went wrong after Mick got injured and the forward line started to mal function. If we get our best 22 out there fit and ready to rok, well footy is a strange beast

I think that the only team we have a chance of beating in September is St Kilda. We will be a finals training run for the rest of them. A defeat in the first week will be a mercy killing (believe me, it pains me to think and say this).

Agree with Collingwood. Not so sure about the Crows though. We were 'competitive' against them a few weeks back - just missed a lot of goals.

Are you serious? Did you see it? We were woeful, almost equal with our game against Collingwood last weekend as our worse performance this year.

I was at a function so I didn't see it live, but I watched the replay. We were disgusting but at least had chances. We were never in the game against Collingwood.

I'm not saying we'd beat the Crows but I would at least give us a chance of being 'competitive'.

You aren't the only one mate. If we don't perform this weekend & have to play a final in Adelaide I'm seriously considering doing something sickening & not attending. That is how disillusioned I am with the team at the moment.

Because travelling overnight on a bus or shelling out big $$ on a plane only to watch your team get thrashed (whilst getting abused by schizoid South Australian psychos) is not my idea of a good time to be honest

The last time we played a final in Adelaide, the Swans had four stars out injured. So poor were our prospects that the side was rated a 7-1 chance of winning, the most lopsided odds I can recall for any final. During the game we lost three more to injury during the match.

Despite these setbacks, we won.
