True with the magoos, as they play earlier that afternoon.
Oops, that was supposed to be isn't!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
I cant believe the hysteria in this thread.
Surely it should be reserved for the final we play?
What difference does a dead rubber make? Maybe they would prefer to rest Vespa before the finals? If he's fit he will certainly get a run next week.
The hysteria is justified because Roos has once again shown himself to be a complete hypocrite. It seems premiership credits are still alive and well at the Swans when the one exciting player to emerge since the mid-season break is dropped for an out of form hack like Ablett. He also can't seem to decide if Malceski is fit or not with his one week in, one week out philosophy.
Yesterday:
"The approach will be to probably try and pick our best available team that will represent the club the following week," Roos said
"If you limp into them, you have then got to determine do you make sure Kieren Jack's playing in the finals and (Patrick) Veszpremi's playing in the finals and at least get some experience for those young players?"
"We might have to bring some young players back in for this week, because if you do lose or you're not playing well, at least you're gaining something from it," Roos said yesterday.
"There's not a lot to be gained losing with the same sort of team; at least this year we've introduced a lot of new players."
Clearly Veszpremi is not in the "best available team".
"As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

Some say complete hypocrite, some say master tactician

Pretty sure that they wouldnt have dropped vespremi for form so would have been with the final the following week in mind (such as to get over niggling injury).
If Vespa, Bird, Jack, Grundy and Moore dont play in the final I'd be surprised and a bit peeved.
Until then I'll reserve my judgement based on the team that runs onto the park, not the team that is named.
I cant see that we have much to complain about with the focus on youngsters this year. Mr Yawn #4 has hardly got a game despite doing well in reserves. All of the above have played a part in our season as well as the debut of Braba and White.
It would be pretty silly to leave the kids out of the final, but despite the comments saying the team will be picked this week with an eye on next week I doubt that will be the case.
Not really a dead rubber unless all teams above us win.
The game could still effect on the outcome of the F8.
Dead rubber in the sense that we will still play a final whatever the result. No matter who we play, we will be expected to lose, and the positive to take out in that event can only be getting final experience into the younger players.
Despite us making the top 4 in 03 because 3 results went our way in Rnd 22 - I cant see that happening this week.

I see, but my idea of a dead rubber is no outcome from the result, as in Melb v Rich.
