Where should we play our home final?

As we may not get much more than 40,000 to our home final, do we want to play it at Telstra Stadium and risk diluting the atmosphere or at a packed SCG whwere the atmosphere should be awesome?

What we want and what the club wants isn't a factor in where the AFL decides to play our "Home State Final".

We only earnt the right to a "Home State Final" and from there the AFL decides which of the two Sydney grounds they want to play the game and with ANZ Stadium sitting empty next weekend as things stand, I guess we will be playing our "Home State Final" at ANZ Stadium and not the SCG, because the AFL will want to make the most money out of the game as possible and playing at ANZ Stadium to them presents that option (that and because the AFL also have a contract with ANZ Stadium that means they get first option on Finals to be played in Sydney and I doubt ANZ Stadium is going to reject a AFL final next weekend when it is empty).

So its off to Homebush we go, whether we like it or not....

You realise this is a hypothetical as we are contractually obliged to play at ANZ. And surely we would get more than 40k to a final?

        simple.

can take three friends to anz, none to scg.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

Roos will probably go the SCG, and will forfeit for a no show.

As Ugg said there is no debate to be had... contractually the game must be played at ANZ stadium.

Why would anyone want to settle for a sub-40,000 crowd at the SCG when you've got the potential for more than 60,000 at Homebush?

why then did we play the 2005 semi against Geelong at the sprinkler flooded SCG?

Or have the rules changed since then?

Don't know for sure but I suspect that there was another game scheduled for ANZ on that night. Both our stadium providers treat us shabbily (IMO) as ANZ have shafted us for the Union and the league and the SCG trust generally look down their noses at us as a matter of course.

As others have said game will be at Homebush http://www.anzstadium.com.au/Events/...f-bc07c6cf453c

It was because the NRL had finals on and both Wests Tigers and the Swans wanted Telstra for their semi scheduled the same night. NRL won out, we were sent back to the SCG and got twice the crowd. Telstra lost out big time on the deal and doubt we will ever be shafted again.

It is the AFLs call and it will be ANZ no debate.
