SWans in sights but who is it?

    Again Danny Weidler reports:

Watch the Swans to make a most unexpected play for a rival player. It could upset one of their biggest name players. At the moment it's just a thought, but it could develop. And with Barry Hall knocking back the advances of Ozpunt, watch for another high profile Swan to be targeted."

Well what does this mean?. I'm guessing the Swans might put a feeler towards Jonathan Brown and Nick Davis to be target for the grid iron career. We better trade him soon then.
In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.

      Why on earth would we?
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Because he would be a great jughead for Sydney promo.

But both he and BBBH play CHF.

Probably better of playing JB at FF because of his battered body.

          Could be something in that.

Davis is a prodigious kick as we know, but he is also a very, very high kick. American Football punting is as much about 'hangtime' as it is distance and accuracy. Davis would make a very good punter in American Football IMHO.

I don't want Brown. He's overrated and we aren't going to win a premiership in the next 4 years or so anyway.

And anyway, he's either going back to his family in Melbourne or he'll stay in his brand new house in Brissie. Sydney has no chance, and that's fine with me.

Weidler is a hack of the highest order, I highly doubt he has any inside knowledge of the Swans or any AFL club.

As a league reporter, I dare say his only possible source is Lance Thompson (Davis' manager) so read into that what you will (or at least consult Connolly's posts on said person which are pretty spot on IMO).

Hammo this "story" has all the fingerprints of a certain prominent player manager who was a tough forward in the grunt and thump caper. Our said hard man of the bash and barge is currently representing a charasmatic (no thats not asthmatic) mercurial little champ who is much misunderstood, under appreciated and under-paid. Our said mouthpiece rings a hot shot scoop merchant and puts a dorothy dixer to him, that Barry Hall will be shafted by the Bloods. Mind you this story is deliberately planted just before the brave Bloods play in a sudden death final against the impecunious kangas. Our stoush merchant laughs like a drain as he ruminates on the pay back of destablising the lousy mob that rejected his modest offers on behalf of his enigmatic (no thats not phelgmatic) prize cash cow and thinks that revenge is best served up piping hot. No names no pack drill.

As far as 'biggest name players' Weidler can really only be referring to the bookends - Hall and Barry - or possibly Spida.

Perhaps the play is for a fullback?

As I said I think Weidler would have as much idea about what is happening at the Swans as Paul Roos knows what's happening at the Manly Sea Eagles. Sadly I think this is just the result of a player manager trying to make a name for himself.
