Fri. night on 1 hour delay into Syd.

Was scanning the program guide and came across this today. Fri. night final on at 8.30pm in Sydney. Was trying to remember if we've every had Fri. night footy on FTA in Sydney.
Given the absense of foxtel in our house for a few years it'll be nice to watch some footy on Fri. night as opposed to tuning in 702.
Should be interesting to see how it goes.

We've had a few Friday finals in recent years on live, but those involved Sydney. Not sure I can remember an early replay for a non-Sydney involved game before.

is it true - they are actually going to be showing the footy an hour delay (instead of about 5) into sydney on a Friday night? If so - yay!!!
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Last year's West Coast-Collingwood final was live into Sydney as it was over in the west, a 1 hour delay into Sydney on a Friday night is great news!!

This is why we didn't want CH 9 to have the rights because they have a Friday night dilemma. CH 7 should be trying to grow the game in Sydney and so what if they are up against the NRL. They may take a little hit in the ratings but at least they are keeping faith and generating goodwill with the AFL audience in the northern states. It will be very good to watch a match on only a one hour delay.

Sadly they also run a business. And whilst we are AFL fans & will watch it, many Sydneysiders think AFL exists wholly & solely of a team in red & white playing 15 opponents of vague importance. Non-Swans games rate terribly in Sydney. This means lost $$$ to the station through people paying less for advertising space.

What we as AFL fans have to start doing is trying to find out how WE can get our tv sets recorded for Oztam ratings.
