To win against the roos, they need to pull their fingers out and get serious.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Make sure the umpires call Brett Kirk kicks for goal actual goals when they go over the line.

And having no more than 18 players on the pitch kind of helps as well.

Be first to the ball, and win the clearances.

Win the contested ball. Get it on our terms and just go in hard. I don't believe Roos would really leave out Vez. Maybe if MOL was there, but yeah put Crouch or Jack on Boomer and glove him, get the ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Harvey must surely be the reason why Jack got a game. No disrespect to him, he's been more than decent, but in terms of sheer talent and attacking ability Vespa must shade him.

There are other options if he fails (e.g. Crouch) but it's this sort of game that can make a young player's career. Succeed tomorrow night and he'll really start believing he's a 200-gamer. And we'll start believing that we're not a side on the way down.

                                Ticking all the boxes

Well it took a 1/2 of footy but I think the boys managed to deliver and tick the boxes:

                                1. Kept Harvey Quiet = tick
                                2. Baz won against Firrito = tick (and thanks to Laidley for not bringing that match up)
                                3. We were extremely quick and decisive, instinctive, stay cool, hit targets, handball only to someone in clear space and who is moving not motionless, go down the guts, do they Ablett swerve thing if you're going to carry the ball at all, apply as much scoreboard pressure as possible and tackle till you drop = tick, tick, tick, tick, no tick, tick, no tick, tick, tick. Thank's ROK
                                4. Start well = no tick
                                5. Didn't need Lockett, Kelly, Willo, Dunks and Ball - but I think the boys were channelling their spirits = so no tick for that
                                6. Move the ball quickly to Hall = tick
                                7. Quell Harvey = tick
                                8. have LRT stop Hale - kinda/sorta ended up not a key requirement = 1/2 tick
                                9. Play footy = tick. It's not rocket science - you were right anniswan
                                10. Play with confidence and kick to advantage = BIG TICK
                                11. Play better than them = tick (a lot)
                                12. Not drop Veszpremi = BIG tick
                                13. Outscore them - you got your wish BMR = tick
                                14. Not give away so many free kicks in the forward 50 - aside from one slip up - did good = tick
                                15. As above for defensive 50 - took a little while but got there = so 1/2 tick
                                16. Pull their fingers out and get serious - yes and yes = tick
                                17. Play Veszpremi god dammit - See #12 = tick
                                18. Make umps call Brett Kirk kicks for goal actual goals when they go over the line: tick - no tick = NO SCORE
                                19. Maximumum of 18 players on the pitch = tick
                                20. Not let them get the jump on us and silence the crowd = 1/2 tick on that one. Crowd were TOPS!
                                21. Be first to the ball, and win the clearances = tick tick
                                22. Remove Ablett and Play Vez FFS = 1/2 tick (worked out good)
                                23. Definitely play Veszpremi = bold definite tick
                                24. Win the contested ball, Get it on our terms and just go in hard. Not leave out Vez (but only if MOL available), and put Crouch/Jack on Boomer and glove him = Tick tick tick. Tick. Crouch proved that TWO GLOVES ARE BETTER THAN ONE!
                                25. Name Vezpa = yah yah yah tick already
                                26. Harvey was the reason Jack got the game = tick. Started with no tick but I think his performance convinced SimonH that he will be a 200-gamer so I'm giving that a big tick and thumbs up.

                                So I make it 19 full ticks + 4 1/2 ticks = 21 out of possible 26

I'm giving that a pass and estimate that's a 85th percentile performance in Season 2008 (adjusted for degree of difficulty because it's a final)
                                GOOD JOB SWANNIES!
Conclusion - a performance to build on. Room for improvement. Form looks good.
