    Gold Coast Football Club

    Mmmmmmmm....

    1. They're gettings lots of good draft picks. The rest of the comp will suffer. (No wonder Roosey is looking elsewhere for future players - he's a very smart man!)

Nine of the first 15 picks

    2. Their colours are very close to the crows. What happens when they play each other - one team will have to wear white. As for the mascot ... Caaaaappppppppeeeerrrrrrr ... I've got a little jobbie for you.

    Colours and mascot
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

When they said the team had no nickname but did have a mascot I thought it was going to be a "meter maid". Instead, it's the "Bonds" character.

I dont reckon they are getting enough picks.

They cant play a team of kids for the first 3 years and get smashed every week. Therefore they are going to have to trade the picks for some big bodied senior players. Trade 4 or 5 of those picks for a couple of players and they dont have much left.

For them to be any good inside a decade they will need much better concessions.

I thought the expectation of 6-8 wins and 80% was a bit unrealistic. Time will tell. They might jump and surprise us all.

I can't decide whether having no nickname or a stupid American influenced nickname like the Spirit, Force or Revolution is better.

I think it is a geat idea to not have a nickname. One will evolve. the swans came about in the 1930's.

              They should be the Schoolies.

I agree with not naming them too. Something will evolve that's a natural fit rather than something contrived. Maybe the AFL is leaving it open for using the name of whichever Mebourne club folds first a la Brisbane Lions.

Nickname should reflect their beach culture according to their chairman, like their colours: yellow for the sand, blue for the water, white for the zinc cream and red for what happens when the sun is finished with you.
So, a possible nickname: the Gold Coast Rollers.
                Banner suggestion: Rolled Gold.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Nah, it will be "The Gold Coast Cappers".

                    They will wear spandex uniforms.

Knickers will drop the Swans for them in a second.

Gees. Talk about tearing my heart in two. Davo finishing up there at 31 would probably seal the deal. Ticket Holder #1

They can also pick up to 16 uncontracted players (one from each club) to strengthen their list (and with AFL $ behind them they will land some good players), so I think they will be competitive enough.

However, I don't understand why they were allowed to have red, white, blue and yellow as their colours considering they conflict with so many other teams - it is madness.

Why couldn't they choose something distinctive? The whole purpose of having a central administrative body is to make sure that things like this don't happen. They will need a different "away" strip for every second match - that is not the sort of thing that you want happening when you are trying to establish a brand. Very, very silly.
