    Eski on the improve

No-one's really mentioned him for a while, so I thought I'd start a new thread.

I've been absolutely thrilled with his form over the last 2 weeks, and he's showing glimpses of the kind of footy we all know he can play.

Since the Brisbane game I've noticed he's running a little harder, and starting to move deeper into the midfield, where he's then able to make a forward entry.

His field kicking on the whole is better as well. Seems to be hitting more targets, and kicking more of the bullets we all love!

On the whole, it's great to have the old eski re-emerging!

Those racking kicks forward are a key to our attack.
Kennelly does not have the penetration .. a run and handball to the streaming forward Malcheski is what I want to see at the G.

He's still a revolving door when trying to tackle though.

Him and Tadhg are huge worries in defence when the ball has come to ground.
Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09

I thought he was just average last week and wasn't hard at the footy at all.

I think the cheese has slid off his cracker. His decision making was poor and lacked the awareness that is required to win the ball.

I don't think hardness at the footy is a fair thing to judge Malceski's performances on.
It's never been one of the stronger facets of his game. So why start picking on it now?

It's like bagging Kirks game last weekend just because he can't kick over a jam tin!

After an injury-free pre-season, he'll be back to his best.

It looks like he's lacking a bit of confidence.

Just needs an Oil Change and grease on that knee of his and he'll back to his best.

He had to be on the improve. After his previous performances there has been only one direction his form and performance could go.

Yes he's picked up a bit on his running and delivered beautifully on a cple of occassions but I still maintain that this may be the most premature thread in the history of RWO! Happy to be proven wrong and apologise at 11pm on Friday night. But I doubt it.

If you read my opening post again, you'll see that all I was ever doing was acknowledging that his form was finally heading in a upwards direction.

My point was that it's fantastic it's finally happening. He was treading water for quite a while.

Fair enough... But let's not start fawning over him when he's done bugger all. If form has anything to do with selection, he's lucky to be playing at all IMHO....

You have to have Eski in our top 22. His run and penetrating kick are necessary. The hard ball gets can be done by Kirk, B1, Ablett and Co. These other blokes are there to provide rebound, and they do it pretty good. The fact that Tadgh was closely marked last week gave Eski a bit more space and time, hence his game looked better. They can't usually mark both of them effectively, that's why we need tem both, if one is up, one is usually down.
