Schneider was so Schneider - kicked a behind running into goal by himself 15m out. And then kicked a goal a few minutes later followed by a nice pass to Riewoldt.

Once again it takes two weeks of finals to confirm the top 4.

I seem to recollect hearing something on the radio about AD suggesting there should be a top 10 for the finals . It would be much better IMHO if it were a top 4 as really they are the ones that deserve to play in the finals but I know it isn't going to happen as the AFL want to squeeze every last cent out of the game.

I must admit I thought the the final 5 was the best finals system. The top 8 rewards mediocrity with a finals game or 2. However money will dictate that we never revert to a Final 5 system.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

Ball use was the difference tonight.

Great gesture by the Pies at the end of the game to put aside their disappointment and form a guard of honour for Robert Harvey.

Agree entirely - on both points. A top 5 in a 16 team comp is right, roughly the top third. It's only 6 games though - we've had that many finals games already!

Final 5 also makes the top position far more valuable.

If we had a final 5 this year it would have been:

                    EF: StK v Adel

                    QF: Haw v. WB

                    And then:

                    1SF: WB v. StK

                    2SF: Geel v. Haw

                    Prelim probably Haw v. WB

                    GF prob Geel v. Haw.

So the (possible) downside is you can get the same teams playing each other more often in finals.

I always thought that there was a huge advantage of winning the 2SF (ie: a huge disadvantage playing the prelim relative to getting the week off) but I checked and the team winning the flag only won the 2SF 12 times to 7.

Wakelin organised that. You could see him tell the players to go over and do it.

Really pleased for Harvs, the Saints took the game on.
Would love to have heard the Malthouse address after the game, didn't seem to be laced with that much humour.

It's a bit silly to see that happen when it wasn't Harvey's last game.

BTW, Roos fans were outraged last week when Swans didn't form a guard of honour for Shagger. What's the game coming to??
