    Swans Reserves Team

Food for thought, or an old problem revisited?

The Tassie Devils side is leaving the VFL - which means they now have an uneven number of teams left in the competition - should the Swans attempt to play their seconds team in that league in an effort to fast track younger players against higher quality opponents, or is supporting the local league more important for the long term growth of AFL in NSW?

I always thought that is was a mistake getting rid of the reserves teams across the AFL - but the cost spoke loudest at the time.

There are logistical (and financial) problems with moving the team etc, but I would consider the prospect, if it translated into more AFL ready players. The swans and the AFL / VFL may not like the idea at all, but what do you guys think?

We signed a 3 year deal to play in the Canberra league at the end of last year, so the cost of breaking that contract would also have to be factored in. So I would conclude in the short term, it is unlikely to happen.
