    Welcome to Sydney Rhyce Shaw

What I like about Rhyce coming to Sydney is:
    1. we have always done very well out of ex-Pies: I'm thinking Schaubs, Willo and Davo
    2. his haircut fits right in
    3. Uncle Tony will have to find something positive to say about the Swans!

    4. and I can learn to spell his name correctly....

[mods can you fix thread title please]

Don't bet on it! Uncle Tony is Collingwood's and Mick Malthouse's biggest critic. Rhyce is always getting a raw deal in one way or another.

He played 20-22 games for a team that was comfortably better than the Swans.

I say welcome Rhys and show those doubting Magpies how good you can be when given a fair chance.

I agree, I think he will play with a lot of passion.

Would love to see a photo of him dumping his magpie gear the way Richards did. Probably disinherited by the family if he did.

We got a quality player for a bargain.
This years stats from 20 games
            Averaged
            13.1 Kicks
            7.45 handballs
            6.85 marks
            2.8 tackles
            2.3 clangers
            2.25 clearances

For pick 46 and getting 61 back its a real bargain.

HOWEVER I did hate him while he was at Collingwood so I am still feeling a little conflicted

I have to say I am positively surprised by this arrival, and the trade deal

He is a quality player....and given how lesser touted players (ie Ted Richards) have blossomed at Sydney, he could well become something very good with us

Welcome Rhyce!... I am looking forward to watching you sprint away and have a bounce or two (and not having to curse)

The 'quality' part of his game does not extend to hitting targets, especially forwards on the lead.

Yes, welcome Rhyce to the Swans! I'm sure you will fit in very well with your new teammates here in Sydney. Once you put on that red and white jersey you are one of us, and past sins are forgotten (even ones like playing for Collingwood). Welcome, and kick some butt out there in 09 (and some goals!)
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

I am thinking Scotty Russell and Billy Picken too!

But Shawy cost very little and could fill a hole, and he also takes the pressure off LRT.........in the ugly stakes!

Have to strongly agree with this. Don't know how people label him a "quality" player at all. He has consistently struggled in this area. He may provide some zip, but he undoes it with poor decision making errors.

'We should give him 10 to wear after the last great convert in Paul Williams.

He was over the hill when we got him.

If Shaw plays with passion like I'm sure (no pun intended) he will. He might challenge the Bloods to another level.

3rd round pick, we've done well in a poor week.

Great result fro RWO! Lose our favourite whipping boy Benny, replace him with Rhyce Shaw! Talk about trading for a need.

Nah, just kidding, I'm sure we'll love ya.

There is not a single comment by Swans coaching / recruitment staff how Shaw will actually help us.

Who will get delisted to allow Shaw on the list?

                              Very puzzling.
