    Simple yes or no answer...

    Ok....

Nick Davis is being de-listed, ROK may go and BBBH & MO'L are almost certainly in the last year (2009) of their football career. My point is, If we DO lose ROK, well then surely it's almost time to run a broom through the list and start the rebuilding/youth policy NOW.

Retain Goodes/Jolly as the oldest players and get rid of anyone older than them.

Gee rP, you're a good looking rooster and a pretty switched on guy but I do think you're being a bit harsh here... I only HALF agree with you.

The question is moot - the club has stated that it doesn't do the rebuilding/youth policy thing. And of course it's hard to get contracted players to agree to retire.

I don't think a complete clean out would be good policy anyway - the new players will learn from playing alongside the likes of Kirk and Hall.

I think we'll see a progressive turnover of the list over the next 2 years.
    • Leo and Crouch are already marked for retirement in 2009.
    • O'Loughlin could well join them - as could Kirk and Hall, though I think they're more likely to play on in 2010.
    • Kennelly has said that he'll return to Ireland after 2009.
    • Ablett and J Bolton would be doing well to make it beyond 2010 (I suspect 2009 might be Ablett's last) and Fosdike is no certainty to be retained for 2009.

If all the above were off the list by 2011, then our oldest players would be Goodes (31), C Bolton (30-31), O'Keefe? (30), Jolly (29) and Shaw?? (29).

The backline isn't that old, a few in the midfield are getting on but we have plenty of mids waiting in the wings.

The major concern would have to be the forward line. Who are we going to kick it to when Mick and Spazza go? Losing O'Keefe is going to make things even worse.

Clean em all out....after leo, Mickey, Bazza and Kirky go, run the broom thru the rest as well...have a fire sale and clear the books...only retain players who know the game fundamentals...how to kick (straight that is), how to mark (the ball), and not replace em with another bunch of CPs who turn the ball over with ridiculous regularity...
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

Already have the youth coming through the ranks, no need for a mass clean out.
